The State of Nebraska, Department of Health and Human Services is seeking 2 motivated, forward thinking, full-time Activity Specialists for the Division of Behavioral Health at Lincoln Regional Center.
- Plan and conduct various recreation, leisure, and rehabilitative services through group and individual interventions that are directly linked to the person's (patient) treatment plan goal and objectives. These rehabilitative interventions assist the hospital in demonstrating compliance to JACHO and CMH Standards of active treatment and Federal and State Standards of Care for Behavioral & Psychiatric Hospital Licensure.
- Provide individual and group on-campus experiences to prepare individuals for safe discharge to the community.
- Plan holiday and other special recreation programming, maintain equipment and supplies, document on individual's progress toward patient treatment goals, supervise clients, and completes entries for treatment plan reviews.
Requirements / Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: Post high school coursework with an emphasis in recreation management, music, recreation therapy, occupational therapy, vocational rehabilitation or related field or experience in planning, coordinating, or directing activity or therapy services.
Other: This position requires a valid drivers license. Must be 19 years of age.
Shift: Building #5 (Men's Forensic) - Sunday-Wednesday 8:00am-7:00pm or Wednesday-Saturday 8:00am-7:00pm.
Building #3 (Women's Acute) - Wednesday-Saturday 8:00am-7:00pm.
Wage: $18.623/hour + $3.00/hour facility differential
Knowledge of: methods for planning and conducting therapeutic activities; the principles and methods of therapeutic interventions; the fundamentals and rules of various games, sports, and related leisure activities; swimming pool operations; intellectual or other developmental disabilities and gerontology; the State of Nebraska Statutes, Rules and Regulations that govern the practice of Occupational Therapy.
Skill in: delivery of one or more therapy services; working cooperatively with facility personnel; utilizing therapy methods and techniques in carrying out therapeutic activities; communicating with residents, members, or patients and understanding their problems and needs; deterring deviant resident, member or patient behavior; observing, documenting, and evaluating assigned therapy services.
Ability to: form effective therapeutic relationships with residents, members, or patients; obtain and maintain resident, member, or patient interest and participation in activities; instruct residents, members, or patients how to perform an activity; observe and document resident, member, or patient behavior; keep records and compile reports; construct/modify equipment to meet the needs of clients.
