The Division of Vascular Surgery in the Department of Surgery at Stanford University seeks two full-time vascular surgeons to join the Division as Assistant or Associate Professor in the University Medical Line (UML). We are particularly interested in candidates who have the potential for a strong clinical vascular surgery focus, as well as prioritizing a research-based career, with the goal of obtaining independent national level funding in a vascular surgery field. Possible practice building and clinical growth opportunities would be at our nearby Veteran's Affairs Hospital in Palo Alto, CA, with the ability to ascend into a section chief leadership role with appropriate prior experience. Possibilities for research interests include but are not limited to translational bench research, clinical trial development, outcomes and health services/policy research, educational research, biodesign and engineering research, or artificial intelligence and big data research. Prior experience and written scholarship within their intended research interest would be expected, even if in the preliminary phase. Candidates may also be considered for appointment as Vice Chair of Education for the Department. Candidates for this role will hold or have held a major educational leadership role in surgery such as Clerkship Director, Program Director, Simulation Center Director or VC of Education or equivalent. A strong history of scholarly activity in education research or curriculum design is expected. The major criteria for appointment for faculty in the University Medical Line shall be excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, clinical teaching, scholarly activity that advances clinical medicine, and institutional service appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill.

The successful applicants should have an MD or MD/ PhD with board certification/ eligibility in Vascular Surgery. Demonstrated expertise in clinical and translational vascular research is expected, with an emphasis on multidisciplinary collaborations. A strong interest in clinical program building via expansion of hospital outreach, as well as local leadership with mentoring of other faculty and trainees would be ideal for this candidate. Faculty rank will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.

The activities of the Division/Department are diverse and include collaborations with Vascular Medicine, Cardiovascular Institute members, bioengineering departments, and our clinical practice locations at Stanford Health Care, VA Palo Alto, and Santa Clara Valley Medical Center. The expected base pay range for these positions are:

Rank: Assistant Professor $401,000 - $437,000

Rank: Associate Professor $477,000 - $513,000

This pay range reflects base pay, which is based on faculty rank and years in rank. It does not include all components of the School of Medicine's faculty compensation program or pay from participation in departmental incentive compensation programs.
