Job Summary
As an integral member of the advancement team, tasked with leading the development and execution of a robust stewardship and donor engagement plan that creates tactics, systems, processes, initiatives, and approaches for personalized stewardship at scale. Heavily involved in setting strategy and planning the execution of solicitations of funds from donors and prospective donors. Reports to the Chief Advancement Officer (CAO) for the School of Social Work (SSW) and is vital to the leadership and strategic planning of advancement operations for the unit.

Duties & Responsibilities

Donor Engagement
• Develop, implement, and manage an effective stewardship and donor engagement plan for the unit.
• Serve as a key stakeholder and strategic partner in the planning and delivery of donor solicitations.
• Coordinate and manage the scholarship administration process, ensuring both internal (i.e. Business Office, Office of Student Affairs, and Financial Awards Committees) and external (i.e. students and donors) constituents receive clear communications of expectations and timelines.
• Create, document, and execute individualized stewardship plans for all donors in collaboration with the Office of the Vice Chancellor of Institutional Advancement (OVCIA), the University of Illinois Foundation (UIF), and other internal constituents to foster and strengthen long-term relationships for continued cultivation and solicitation.

• Responsible for meeting with donors independently and with other members of the SSW to effectively ensure donor intent, understanding of the mechanics of their gift, and enhancing the donor relationship to increase overall engagement and continued cultivation and solicitation.
• Working with the SSW Communications Team and OVCIA Strategic Engagement, produce and distribute advancement communications and impact reports for SSW donors and prospective donors to enhance engagement and share the impact of donor generosity on the people and causes supported by philanthropy.
• Collaborate with SSW faculty, staff, and the OVCIA Strategic Engagement team to plan, coordinate, and execute events where donors and prospective donors may be in attendance, including sponsored lectures, recognition events, campus visits, and other engagement programming.

Advancement Operations
• Review all draft gift governing documents and provide feedback to advancement colleagues to ensure responsible stewarding of gift funds and donor intent.
• Develop systems to review, evaluate, and report on stewardship and donor engagement metrics and utilize this information to enhance the donor experience.
• Conduct comprehensive audits to monitor gift funds, working with leadership and department heads to ensure proper communication and utilization.
• Pull reports when necessary to inform decision making with regards to revenue and fund accumulations.
• Respond to inquiries from alumni, donors, and other constituents, documenting conversations, requests, and follow-ups accurately within the donor database.
• Perform additional duties as needed to address the advancement operations needs of donors and the SSW.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree. Minimum 2 years of comparable experience in advancement/development, fundraising, non-profit relations, donor relations, customer experience, relationship management, or a similar related profession.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in higher education advancement with previous responsibilities in stewardship and donor relations. Skills and knowledge related to professional writing, graphic design, marketing and communications, event planning, and web development are preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to appropriately manage sensitive and confidential information. Ability to research and organize information and data with accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Appointment Information

This is a 100% full-time Academic Professional position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the search posting closes. The budgeted salary range for the position is $60,000-$65,000. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity. Sponsorship for work authorization is not available for this position.
