The Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA) is the hub for intercultural advancement, diversity, community development, and inclusion efforts on the University of Massachusetts Lowell campus. The office serves as a resource for the campus community regarding issues and concerns related to diversity, equity and inclusion. OMA promotes student development and leadership; enhances student success and retention; and facilitates a respectful, diverse, and inclusive campus. OMA provides educational programs, student group advising, direct student support, advocacy, and resources for successful navigation of campus and community life. Programs and services encourage identity exploration, community building, as well as cultural competency development of all UMass Lowell students. This office collaborates across campus to establish meaningful campus and community involvement in building and supporting an inclusive campus environment and providing training and outreach to target populations.
The Assistant Director of Multicultural Affairs will assist the Director in advancing the mission, goals, and strategies of OMA such as increasing the access, retention and success of historically underrepresented or marginalized students. The Assistant Director will help in the promotion of student engagement, cohort experiences, mentorship and community building programs and will work closely with division and campus partners to develop a comprehensive infrastructure that effectively supports the growth and advancement of UMass Lowell students with a direct focus on retention and persistence efforts. The Assistant Director will assist in the continued enhancement of a University culture that welcomes and celebrates all students through the infusion of diversity and inclusion throughout the college experience.
