Pay Rate: $57,400 - $71,620.00/per year. Pay will be determined based on related work experience above required. To be considered in determining pay, all related work experience must be listed on the application.

Position Summary: The overall purpose of the Assistant Director, PACE is to support faculty in improving teaching and learning across various delivery modes. The assistant director works in collaboration with Distance Education staff, HIPs Liaison, and HIPs champions/faculty to develop and deliver relevant online and HIPs training. They also work directly with faculty or staff who wish to facilitate PACE trainings, ensuring learning outcomes, content, and engagement. Overall, the Assistant Director aims to integrate instructional design principles and technology to support faculty, staff, and improved student learning.
Essential Functions:
15% In the absence of the Director - oversee all operations of PACE.
15% Serve as Co-Chair of the Faculty Development Committee and aid in the planning of FDC events including collegewide in-service, the teaching & learning conference, new faculty academy, and the college teaching institute.
5% Collaborate with the PACE Director to develop and maintain a comprehensive yearly plan for faculty and instructional development including goals for the department's leadership team.
5% Assume primary responsibility for timely reporting in Compliance Assist.
20% Work in collaboration with the Distance Education staff, HIPs Liaison, and HIPs champions/faculty to develop and deliver relevant online and HIPs training and development. Develop, design, deliver, evaluate, and revise faculty development sessions/programs and training materials to foster the adoption of best practices and to meet the needs of faculty.
5% Serve as Pellissippi Academic Center for Excellence representative monthly at Faculty Senate.
15% Provide individual as well as group faculty consultations related to course design, redesign, and development to ensure instructional integrity of course development projects through a method of systematic design and clear course standards and objectives. This includes course reviews in order to identify instructional opportunities and areas for improvement. Work directly with faculty or staff who wish to facilitate a PACE training. Ensuring they have learning outcomes, relevant content, and opportunities for engagement. Responsible for coordinating campus resources for teaching and learning and collaborating with faculty across departments.
10% Oversee and support all aspects of the Pellissippi State Trainer Academy (PSTA) in collaboration with the Director of Talent Management and other PSTA leads.
5% Research and evaluate new and emerging trends in faculty development as well as instructional design strategies applicable to distance/online learning environments.
5% Assist in college reaccreditation and strategic planning initiatives. Serve on college leadership teams, work groups, committees, and task forces as needed or assigned. Execute other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:
Required: Master's Degree in Education, Instructional Design, Instructional Technology or related discipline.

Preferred: Terminal degree in Adult Learning, Education, Instructional Design, Instructional Technology or related discipline.
Years of Experience: Minimum 4 years of experience teaching and designing courses in higher education, including a minimum of 2 years of experience developing and delivering training utilizing adult learning principles.
Part-time work experience is calculated at 50% credit of full-time work experience.

High levels of critical thinking are required to effectively execute this job. This position requires practical knowledge of college policies and procedures, SACSCOC guidelines, and Department of Education rules and regulations. A high amount of analytical and creative ability is essential for the job. They are expected to have broad knowledge of best practices, regulations, and technologies related to teaching and learning to help faculty and staff enhance instruction and solve pedagogical problems.
Magnitude of Impact:
The breadth of the impact of the outcomes of this position are varied, but have the potential to reach college-wide as any training and development introduced through this department will touch every academic and college division in some capacity. Considering the scale of potential impact, any issues that arise may range from minimally complex and easily remedied to highly complex issues that require multifaceted problem-solving skills. Most issues would likely be observed within a few weeks either side of implementation and may be remedied through the leadership of this position, the PACE Director, or in dire cases, the Vice President of Academic Affairs.
Responsibility for Accuracy:
Typical errors in accuracy occur in scheduling, reporting, and/or budgeting. All scheduling, reporting, and budgeting decisions are reviewed by the Director, PACE and/or the Vice President of Academic Affairs increasing the likelihood that errors would be noted and corrected. The effect of such errors would be nominal and easily remedied.
Budgetary:
In the absence of the PACE Director, this position has the authority to authorize payments for all related purchases. The individual in this position provides input on faculty development resource allocation needs to the PACE Director on the college-wide Faculty Development budget maintained through the Office of Academic Affairs.
Judgement and Decisions:
This position entails a great amount of independent decision making, including logistical, and administrative decisions in the absence of the PACE Director. With supervisor review/approval, the Assistant Director makes purchasing decisions.
