ABOUT US:

The Schwartz Center for Compassionate Healthcare's mission is to partner with healthcare organizations to advance compassion for patients, care teams, and their healing relationships. We are a Boston-based nonprofit with national and international reach, with approximately 600 hospitals in the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand as members, and another 320 hospitals/systems conducting Schwartz Rounds throughout the UK and Ireland. Together, we are helping hundreds of thousands of healthcare professionals provide compassionate care to millions of patients and families. The Schwartz Center's strategic priorities for the coming decade include expansion of Schwartz Rounds within existing members, as well as to new acute care hospitals and into adjacent healthcare markets such as ambulatory centers, retail health, and virtual/home-based care. We are also looking to strengthen our community of compassionate care champions, who are the clinical leaders running our programs across the globe, and to further develop our Model for Compassionate Care and associated tools and resources. We are looking to build new relationships, collaborations, and partnerships with a wide variety of external organizations and associations who are aligned with our work supporting caregiver well-being and patient/family compassion. Our operational budget is funded approximately 50% by philanthropy, with funds coming from individual, corporate and foundation donors, and 50% by earned revenue, including from our membership. Our vision for the coming decade is to be a global leader in championing compassion for all who seek and provide healthcare.

ABOUT YOU:

You are an energetic, experienced fundraising professional with a successful track record of cultivating, soliciting, and closing corporate philanthropic gifts; developing a robust schedule of corporate sponsorship opportunities and benefits to best meet the needs of our corporate supporters; developing and sustaining meaningful relationships with corporate donors, volunteers, and members of healthcare and/or businesses communities. You bring the ability to assess our traditional corporate relationships and the creativity to develop new types of connection and relations. You are eager to develop expertise in understanding the range of business sponsorships and business memberships available from peer organizations and a demonstrated collaborative mindset in working on a cross-functional team. You are a strategic and results-oriented self-starter; possess strong inter-personal skills along with high integrity and work ethic; a flexible, consensus builder; a respectful team player who connects with the organization's mission and is able to communicate it in a meaningful way to existing and prospective corporate donors. You're resourceful and are constantly learning and thinking innovatively. You're a quick study and can roll with change. ABOUT THE WORK:
Reporting to the Chief Development Officer (CDO), the Associate Director of Corporate Engagement team at the Schwartz Center for Compassionate Healthcare (SCCH) will join a high-performing Development team and create and execute a comprehensive strategy to engage corporate donors, increase retention, and grow fundraising revenue through events, stewardship, donor recognition, and other activities.

The Associate Director, Corporate Engagement will play an active role in strategic thinking and planning of development programs to maximize philanthropic opportunities and attract new profiles of supporters from the corporate and foundations arena. This role will be responsible for creating and executing a fundraising strategy for corporate partners and revenue producing events and engaging with individual sponsors to broaden philanthropic support.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Advance fundraising success through a robust and proactive donor engagement program; enhance and expand a comprehensive and integrated effort that ensures donors experience high-quality interactions that foster engagement and investment.
  • Create and execute a fundraising strategy for revenue producing events. Create meaningful sponsorship benefits and partnership activities and ensure their execution. Manage and track sponsor pipelines and manage a portfolio of prospects and donors.
  • Identify and qualify additional prospects by working independently and with colleagues; actively participate in prospect management meetings
  • Collaborate with the Events Coordinator to create meaningful events and opportunities to cultivate and steward prospects and donors
  • Engage with volunteer leaders to create and implement meaningful donor events and activities. Manage event committees and volunteer solicitors.
  • Develop prospect portfolios in partnership with the Board, Leadership Council, and Annual Dinner Committee to support outreach and stewardship for their prospect portfolios.
  • Partner with the Director of Individual Giving on meaningful and valuable engagement opportunities young professionals from corporate donors as part of the Schwartz Center's Future Leaders Advisory Group (FLAG) initiative.
  • Develop third-party and peer-to-peer fundraising opportunities and partner with donors to maximize their effectiveness.
  • Develop and implement strategies for the Development team to ensure timely and effective stewardship and recognition of donors. Develop specific strategies to increase donor retention, upgrades and acquisitions through creative and meaningful donor recognition programs and initiatives.
  • Contribute to the development of event programs, briefings, talking points, and correspondence in collaboration with events, stewardship, and communications colleagues.
  • Regularly evaluate and measure effectiveness of engagement strategies and make recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Develop a working knowledge of the Schwartz Center in general and funding priorities specifically to articulate a compelling case for support to all constituents. Develop partnerships with colleagues on the Programs and Membership teams.
  • Employ high-level project and staff management to execute plans and foster collaboration.
  • Ensure the integrity and consistency of messaging and branding, adhering to guidelines set forth by the Schwartz Center Director of Communications
  • Stay up to date on best practices and trends in corporate engagement and philanthropy
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Occasional night and weekend work.


Qualifications
WE'RE A GOOD FIT IF YOU HAVE:
  • A Bachelor's degree and at least 5 to 7 years of experience.
  • A demonstrated record of successfully generating corporate revenue either in a non-profit or through transferable business experience.
  • A demonstrated record of "lead gen" mentality and appetite for identifying and qualifying new corporate prospects
  • Annual, Corporate, and/or Major Gifts frontline fundraising skills and/or business development skills with exposure to executive management.
  • Demonstrated success with solicitations involving grant and proposal writing, including strategy development, execution, and management.
  • Ability to stay on top of best practices and emerging trends in corporate relations.
  • Excellent relationship skills and the ability to work collaboratively and effectively with diverse internal and external contacts at all levels.
  • Excellent writing, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • A strategic thinker with a strong work ethic who can manage multiple projects effectively, evaluate problems and display sound judgment.
  • Familiarity with the mission, goals and programs of the Schwartz Center for Compassionate Healthcare
  • Be honest, trustworthy, and abide by strict confidentiality guidelines.
  • Be entrepreneurial, collaborative, conscientious, and results-oriented.
  • Be motivated to learn and display flexibility in a changing environment.
  • Experience with Blackbaud donor software preferred.
  • Ability to work occasional nights and weekends.
  • This position is part-time during regular working hours; schedule to be determined with the Chief Development Officer.
