- Associate Director of Training, Supervision & Education
- The Associate Director of Counseling Services under general direction, oversees the operation of programs and services for individual and group psychotherapy, faculty consultation, on-call crisis intervention, academic success skills training, and psychological educational outreach services.
SUMMARY:
The Associate Director of Training, Supervision and Education; under direction of the Counseling Center Director within the Division of Student Affairs, oversees the operation of programs and services for individual and group psychotherapy, faculty consultation, on-call crisis intervention, oversight of the graduate training program and educational outreach services.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manages the Graduate Training program to include recruitment of interns, process review of training program, and orientation/professional development for student's entering the master's level practicum and interns (social work, counseling and psychology) at A&M-Commerce or other university affiliations.
- Provides supervision, consultation and professional development for LPC-Associates (i.e., intake and clinical assessment, crisis intervention, treatment planning, assessment/evaluation, short-term individual, relationship and group counseling).
- Assists in the hiring and onboarding of professional counseling staff, practicum/intern students and graduate assistants.
- Provides oversight and management for education outreach services to campus and community members related to mental health issues and student concerns, including appointments to university committees.
- Participates in weekly case conferences and informal case consultations to coordinate client care.
- Maintains caseload of clients and responsibilities in the management and monitoring of client caseload.
- Meets appropriate timelines for assigned projects, clinical documentation and other duties assigned.
- Maintains professional licensure, pursues relevant professional development activities, and participates as a member of Student Access and Success Team alongside the Counseling Center.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education: MS, MA, M.Ed. in Counseling; LPC licensure in Texas and BHEC Board Approved supervisor status in Texas.

Experience: Five (5) years of clinical experience. Two (2) years of supervisory experience.

Knowledge / Skills: experience in a professional counseling agency and assessing and intervening with a range of mental health concerns, including severe and persistent mental health concerns.

Training: Advanced telehealth training and/or certification. Advanced trauma training and/or certification and knowledge of current trauma treatment modalities.

Ability to: Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficient in the application of and diagnostic criteria of the DSM-V. Ability to demonstrate competency in providing short-term individual counseling, relationship counseling, group counseling, and crisis intervention and assessments. Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.

Licensing/Professional Certifications: Current LPC license and BHEC Board Approved supervisor license in Texas

Other Requirements: Work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends if needed. This may only apply in cases where there is an on-campus emergency/crisis or a required educational outreach need and will be on a limited basis.
PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:
Experience in a college counseling enter or other relevant university setting. Bi-lingual (preferably Spanish speaking).
SUPERVISION OF OTHERS:
Counselors, psychologists, LPC-Associates, student workers, graduate assistants, interns, and practicum students.
