Job Description:
The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services is seeking Licensed Mental Health Practitioners for the Division of Children and Family Services at our Youth Rehabilitation and Treatment Centers located in Kearney or Hastings. The successful candidate will impact the lives of high-acuity youth while supporting our therapeutic, rehabilitative, and holistic approach to their care.
Individuals licensed as a Mental Health Practitioner AND Alcohol and Drug Counselor with the State of Nebraska or as LIMHP start at $32.075/hour. Individuals with a Mental Health Practitioner or Alcohol and Drug Counselor License AND a Provisional license in the other start at $29.838/hour. Individuals licensed as Mental Health Practitioner, start at $27.757/hour. Provisionally licensed applicants will be considered and will be hired with a starting pay rate of $23.661/hour until fully licensed.
Job Duties:
- Assess mental/behavioral health needs and provide treatment interventions and monitoring of response and progress
- Develop treatment plans
- Provide consultative services to treatment team and collaborate with probation and other service providers
- Provide Individual, group and family therapy to youth
- Provide ACRA substance abuse programming
- Respond to crisis situations and assist with de-escalation process
- Complete all required documentation
- Responsible for mental health needs of youth on campus
- Participate in on-call rotation
Requirements / QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
Behavioral Health Practitioner IV: Licensed as a Mental Health Practitioner or possess another license that allows the incumbent to provide the above mental health services as required by NE. Rev. Statute 38-2122. Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, Human Development, Psychology, Family Relations, Vocational Rehabilitation, Art Therapy, Divinity, Human Resources, Naturopathy, Mental Health or other field approved by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services in order to become a Licensed Mental Health Practitioner
AND 3000 hours of post-degree supervised counseling experience.
Behavioral Health Practitioner III: Nebraska license as Mental Health Practitioner or Nebraska license as Alcohol and Drug Counselor
AND Nebraska Provisional License as Mental Health Practitioner or Nebraska Provisional License as Alcohol and Drug Counselor.
Behavioral Health Practitioner II: Nebraska License as Mental Health Practitioner.
Behavioral Health Practitioner I: Provisional license to practice as a mental health practitioner in Nebraska.
Preferred Qualifications:
Candidates who are fully licensed are preferred, but those with a provisional license will be considered.
Other:
Valid driver's license or the ability to provide independent authorized transportation.
Additional $3.00/hour facility differential for hours worked.
Knowledge of: DSM, patterns and processes of normal growth and development; mental and emotional disorders; behavior management and modification; applied behavior analysis; signs and symptoms of alcohol and drug abuse, dependence or disorders; psycho educational training; individual, group, and family therapy techniques; system theories and bio-psychosocial intervention theories; social and cultural factors as related to mental health and substance abuse; physical and mental problems of clients with alcohol and drug abuse, dependence or disorders; program specific treatment issues; methods and resources available for educating clients in chemical dependency; applicable agency policies and organizations; program specific philosophies, policies, and procedures.
Skill in: individual and group counseling; communicating effectively; screening, assessment, and diagnosis; managing conflict; diffusing anger and maintaining a controlled environment.
Ability to: demonstrate the application of therapy methods and techniques; communicate in person, by telephone as a group facilitator, and in written formats with persons served, other staff, families, and other agencies; monitor patient progress and recommend new strategies; prepare written reports; document findings and treatment; conceptualize, integrate and express interdisciplinary input; explain the significance of behavior patterns and signs to patients and other team members.
