Job Summary
In the Connie Frank CARE (Coordination, Assistance, Response and Education) Center within the Office of the Dean of Students, part of the Division of Student Affairs, and under the supervision of an Assistant Dean of Students, responds to students (and families), faculty, and staff seeking information, guidance, and support about a range of student-related issues. In particular, assists in managing the absence letter and medical re-entry processes and provides guidance to students who engage in those processes. Additionally, provides support for the Off-Campus Community Living function of the Center, serving as a resource for students who reside in privately owned residences.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Under the supervision of an Assistant Dean, respond to students, families, faculty, and staff who seek guidance around a range of student-related academic, health, and personal issues.
  • Serve as a point of contact for students seeking information and guidance regarding off-campus housing options, landlord concerns, lease reviews, tenant rights, and other issues related to living in the local community.
  • Manage the absence letter process and provide guidance to students as they negotiate absences from class.
  • Manage the medical re-entry process and provide guidance to students as they negotiate their return to campus following a medical withdrawal.
  • Perform daily case management functions through virtual and in-person means including, but not limited to, meeting with students, facilitating connections and referrals, and updating case notes in the center's Maxient database system.
  • Assist with the selection, training and supervision of the Off-Campus Community Living student Community Liaison team (approximately 10 students).
  • Prepare and present workshops and informational sessions on topics such as searching for housing, budgeting, roommate agreements, and landlord-tenant communication.
  • Assume responsibility for additional assignments based on office needs and staff skills and interest, including but not limited to: policy and procedure development, database management, off-campus community living, basic needs, etc.
  • Assist deans in completing projects and assignments, marketing OCCL services, and assessment efforts; and other duties as assigned to further the mission of the unit.
  • Represent the Center and/or Off-Campus Community Living in outreach opportunities.
  • Serve on Division of Student Affairs/university committees and other university-related events as needed. This may include some after-hours activities.
Additional Physical Demands
The position includes the possibility of a hybrid work environment of 1-2 days per week remote work, dependent upon office needs.

Minimum Qualifications


Education:
  • Bachelor's degree.
Experience:
  • One (1) year of work experience developing and providing educational programs to students in a higher education setting.
    • (Note: Master's Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.)
Preferred Qualifications

Education:
  • Master's degree in counseling, social work, higher education, student personnel, or related field.
Experience:
  • Experience assisting students in crisis and/or who need high levels of support.
  • Experience working with database systems such as Maxient.
  • Familiarity with residential lease contracts and housing issues.
  • Familiarity with local leasing market, landlords, and services available to tenants.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of student development theory.
  • Ability to prioritize work and successfully perform duties independently.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse student population.
  • Aptitude for creating and fostering positive, constructive work team environments.
  • Strong attention to detail.
Appointment Information

This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5002 - Program Coordinator position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 11/1/2024. Salary range for this position is $45,000 - $50,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
