The University of Chicago's Department of Pathology is searching for a full-time faculty member in Clinical Pathology at any rank. The appointee will be based on the University of Chicago's Hyde Park campus and will have clinical responsibilities in clinical pathology, as well as the CLIA Medical Director for several offsite locations in Indiana. CLIA medical director duties include all those duties defined by CLIA including oversite of the overall operation and administration of the laboratory, as well as ensuring the following: personnel competency, appropriate equipment, laboratory safety, up to date laboratory policies, quality assurance, accurate testing (including proficiency testing), and test reports. Other duties will include teaching and supervision of trainees and students, and scholarly activity. The position reports to the Vice Chair for Clinical Pathology. This position will require a strong background in administration, quality improvement, lab operations, and the ability to carry and maintain CLIA licensure. Good communication skills and the ability to work as a team will be important to the success of this position. Academic rank and compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) are dependent upon qualifications.

Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a medical doctorate or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible to hold a medical license in the State of Illinois and the State of Indiana, and 3) have board certification in Clinical Pathology through the American Board of Pathology.
