GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:

The position involves coordinating multiple clinical trials in patients with dementia under the Principal Investigator Dr. Emiliano Santarnecchi and his team at MGH, working closely with the principal investigator, IRBs, study sites, and study participants and their caregivers. Applicants must be well organized and able to coordinate multiple projects and responsibilities simultaneously. Primary duties will include coordinating and running research visits and ensuring all regulatory procedures are followed appropriately. Prior experience with patients with dementia, non-invasive brain stimulation and/or neuropsychological assessments is valued. The position will provide valuable experience in both clinical research and is a great opportunity for those interested in a future career in medicine or neuroscience. The position also involves helping the PI of the studies coordinate research activities within the PI's program and team.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Oversee the recruitment, enrollment, and study visits of research participants

Coordinate operations of clinical research activities such as study documentation, reporting, and logistics

Fulfill tasks related to starting a new program within the hospital including maintaining mailing lists, scheduling bi-weekly lab meetings, purchasing supplies, and other administrative tasks as needed

Carry out study visits involving noninvasive brain stimulation, neuropsychological testing, and questionnaires

Lead weekly team meetings

Act as a point of contact for staff in multiple study sites

Train new employees and graduate students

Qualifications
EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree required.

EXPERIENCE:
  • Proficiency with basic computing packages such as MS Word and Excel
    • Strong interpersonal skills, comfort working with people, and sensitivity towards an older adult population are a must.
    • High level of organization with careful attention to detail, and comfort with technical skills is required.
    • This position requires a high degree of motivation and self-sufficiency, although training will be provided.
    • Ability to problem solve effectively and independently.
    Good organizational skills, ability to follow directions
    Preferred: 2 years experience as a research assistant or coordinator in clinical research involving patients with dementia. Possibly experience with noninvasive brain stimulation and neuropsychological assessment.
