Implement, support and maintain health services and management related databases and with a focus on providing high performance availability. This includes database administration/maintenance, information ETL, and troubleshooting in support of PacificSource departments and subsidiaries. Assist other Information Technology staff with health services and management database-related tasks.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide support and maintenance for all corporate databases.
  • Design, develop, and maintain Microsoft SQL databases and Integration Services packages.
  • Install and maintain DBMS server software. Manage and champion upgrade processes.
  • Configure and administer cloud-based SQL database and data warehouse services such as Epic Clarity.
  • Recommend and implement modifications and improvements to existing databases to increase performance, user-friendliness, and stability.
  • Perform server health monitoring, alerting and incident response.
  • Interpret user requests on database changes, updates, and restores; perform appropriate actions.
  • Handle source control and configuration management issues.
  • Responsible for data security, integrity, and disaster recovery, including strategies, implementation, and staff education.
  • Responsible for scheduled and unscheduled DB backup and restoration in the event of disaster or as assistance to staff.
  • Advise developers in best practice database table design, champion development, and design standards.
  • Participate in cross-functional project teams as database technical expert, working with IT Staff and end users in defining and implementing new systems per project requirements
  • Rotational on-call after hours critical incident support.

Supporting Responsibilities:
  • Meet department and company performance and attendance expectations.
  • Follow the PacificSource privacy policy and HIPAA laws and regulations concerning confidentiality and security of protected health information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SUCCESS PROFILE

Work Experience:Minimum 2 years of intensive database administration in an enterprise environment, working as a professional DBA. Commercial and/or Medicare health care insurance industry systems experience preferred.

Education, Certificates, Licenses: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, MIS or similar, or equivalent combination of education and experience. System vendor certifications such as MCSA or MCSE in Data Management and Analytics or Cloud Platform and Infrastructure or AWS Associate-level certification, or similar preferred.

Knowledge: Advanced experience: Epic platform databases, Microsoft SQL Server, Azure SQL Database, Azure Data Warehouse, SQL Stored Procedure Development, T-SQL, SQL Server Management Studio, Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services, Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services, Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services, Microsoft PowerShell, Database Architecture Design. Database Performance Tuning and Resource Management practices, and SQL DB Security Models. Working knowledge or familiarity with: Microsoft Power Suite (Power View, PowerPivot, Power Query), Microsoft Master Data Services and Data Quality Services, Spotlight, and Informatica. Additional desired experience includes Epic Caboodle data warehouse, Microsoft Cosmos DB, Cognizant/TriZetto Facets; EDI (ANSI x12 formats), HL7, Dell/Quest Lightspeed, Commvault, Rubrik, AWS RDS, AWS Redshift, and integration of enterprise-wide applications. Ability to respond to common inquiries and effectively present information to a variety of groups. Requires excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work closely with others as well as independently. Database normalization skills. Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and other common office software tools, including Microsoft Office. Interest in ongoing training and learning about technology. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Basic math skills, including fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.

Environment: Work inside in a general office setting with ergonomically configured equipment. Travel is required approximately 5% of the time. Requires some activity outside normal working hours. Requires ability to be on-call.
