Position Summary:
Meharry Medical College School of Dentistry invites applications for a full time, non-tenure track faculty
position in the Department of Endodontics. The department has a strong commitment to continuing
education and collaboration with the School of Dentistry clinics and departments.
Daily Operations
- Clinical Instructor Pre/Post-doctoral academia
- Lectures/Didactic Instructions
- Laboratory Exercise Instructions
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Explanation of Responsibilities
The faculty member will provide classroom, laboratory and clinical instruction for predoctoral students.
Candidates will create and deliver lecture presentations for didactic and laboratory classes. They will also
oversee endodontic procedures with the predoctoral students in the main clinics daily. The candidate will
work collaboratively with other departments of the SOD in a comprehensive care environment. Additional
expectations include independent research and service to the College. We seek faculty members who

the next generation of healthcare professionals from diverse backgrounds.
Required Skills• The ideal candidate should have excellent communication skills, experience in educating pre- and post-doctoral
education. The applicant should have experience in working with a diverse student and patient population,
working with patients of all ages, be proficient in periodontics diagnoses and treatment plans, nonsurgical and
surgical periodontal therapies, dental implantology, laser dentistry and dental sedation.
• Responsibilities include serving as a pre-doctoral and post-doctoral faculty member, didactic and clinical
teaching, assisting with the management of the pre- and post-doctoral curriculum and strategic planning
activities.
• Additional responsibilities may include engagement in research opportunities, mentoring, and evaluation of
outcomes assessment. Candidates should demonstrate knowledge of evidence-based therapy, current trends/
technologies and concepts used in the clinical area of instructions.
Required Education and ExperienceCandidates should have a DDS/DMD degree or equivalent from an accredited US or Canadian institution.
Eligibility for Tennessee Dental License and Faculty licensure are required. Exceptional oral and
communication skills, inclusivity, commitment to diversity and collegiality are required. Salary and rank
will be commensurate with education and experience.
