The Stanford Nano Shared Facilities (SNSF) is seeking a Direct-write Lithography Engineer to support highly specialized technical research operations within the SNSF's Nanofabrication Research Core. Central to the core's equipment are two Raith EBPG 5200+ electron-beam lithography systems as well as an incoming Raith Velion ion-beam lithography system. The successful candidate will be part of a team to manage the day-to-day operations, and maintenance of these instruments and foster a sense of community between users from various technical backgrounds. S(he) will provide training and support to researchers, develop and implement advanced techniques, and also be involved in planning for upgrades and new equipment.Our VPDoR Diversity Journey:

SCHOOL/UNIT DESCRIPTION:The goal of the shared facilities at Stanford University is to provide open, cost-effective access to state-of-the-art nanofabrication and characterization facilities for scientists and engineers from academia, small and large companies, and government laboratories. SNSF offers a comprehensive array of advanced nanofabrication and nanocharacterization tools. Over 1,200 researchers make use of the shared facilities each year to further their research programs.

    Provide leadership and scientific expertise in the planning and implementation of major projects, services, facilities, and activities utilizing direct-write lithography.Develop advanced technological ideas and guide their development into a final product or new approaches to research. Carry out complex or unique assignments important to the advancement of the field.Provide expert consultation and collaboration regarding technical requirements, capabilities, and advancement opportunities; make substantive contributions in diverse technical areas.Provide technical direction to other research staff, engineering associates, technicians, and/or students; facilitate workshops and demonstrations on research methods; educate and train users on research methodology and effective tools and techniques.Develop training manuals and safety guidelines, and train new instrumentation users, researchers, and/or technical staff.Contribute to or co-author published articles, presentations, or scientific papers; identify research and development funding opportunities.Supervise staff and resources to meet program objectives.*- Other duties may also be assigned
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience, or Master's degree in a related scientific field and two years relevant experience; or PhD in related science field.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    Expert knowledge of the principles of engineering and related natural sciences.Demonstrated project leadership experience.Demonstrated experience leading and/or managing technical professionals.Demonstrated ability to review research proposals, evaluate research capabilities, and make recommendationsExpert knowledge of electron and/or ion beam lithography principles and applications. Expertise in electron and/or ion beam lithography, especially system operation, process development, resist characterization and integration with other micro­ and nano-fabrication techniques.Willingness to produce dedicated online and in-person teaching material on various aspects of electron and ion beam lithography.Strong desire to work with varying scientific backgrounds and demonstrated ability to collaborate and communicate across disciplines.Certifications and Licenses: None
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
    Frequently grasp lightly/fine manipulation, perform desk-based computer tasks, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.Occasionally stand/walk, sit, twist/bend/stoop/squat, grasp forcefully.Rarely kneel/crawl, climb (ladders, scaffolds, or other), reach/work above shoulders, use a telephone, writing by hand, sort/file paperwork or parts, operate foot and/or hand controls, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh >40 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
    May be exposed to high voltage electricity, radiation or electromagnetic fields, lasers, noise > 80dB TWA, Allergens/Biohazards/Chemicals /Asbestos, confined spaces, working at heights ≥10 feet, temperature extremes, heavy metals, unusual work hours or routine overtime and/or inclement weather.May require travel.

The expected pay range for this position is $156,560 - $180,039 per annum.Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on a wide range of factors that are unique to each candidate including but not limited to geographic location, knowledge, skills and abilities, relevant education, depth and breadth of experience, performance; as well as other business and organization needs such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the minimum qualifications, departmental budget availability, and market and internal equity across the unit, department and reporting relationships.At Stanford University, base pay represents only one aspect of the comprehensive rewards package.
