The Director, IT ProgramProject Management will be responsible for establishing and implementing key strategic initiatives, managing the IT project portfolio, and oversee the IT Program Management processes and programs. This will include leadership to identify, prioritize, track and execute key strategic initiatives, manage multiple and competing priorities, and lead the facilitation of project and program team activities to see multiple strategic initiatives through to completion. The Director, IT Program Management will facilitate the leadership team to identify tactical projects that advance implementation of the Banks' strategy to guide and advise business partners within IT in achieving consistent, high quality program/project outcomes. This position will be responsible for reporting progress at various stages to all stakeholders of the IT portfolio, including Executive Management.The IT Project Manager will also assist business partners with the development of project charters and project plans, ensuring the appropriate human resources, communications, risk, procurement and stakeholder management plans are documented, communicated and approved.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

  • Direct, plan, manage and execute complex and/or strategic IT Project programs and initiatives from concept to completion
  • Maintain effective communication strategy throughout the life of the program
  • Establish program governance, to include leadership and task-level activities
  • Identifies weaknesses in data gathering/reporting, makes recommendations, and ensures the overall integrity of the processes and programs
  • Provide project management leadership for high-profile enterprise initiatives, driving cross-functional project teams to achieve high-quality results through all phases of project delivery (initiating, planning, executing, controlling and closing).
  • Monitor and manage project scope, time, cost and quality objectives throughout project lifecycles.
  • Management and oversight of internal and external project team resources, including vendors, consultants and other third parties
  • Ensure successful rollout of completed efforts
  • Ensures that quality program/project standards are met through the effective implementation or use of approved processes, methodologies and deliverables.
  • Development and maintenance of comprehensive project documentation and archives (projects plans, issues logs, risk registers, stakeholder registers, business requirements, etc.)
  • Mentors and guides less experienced project managers.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed to Perform Essential Functions of the Job
  • Minimum of ten plus (10+) years' experience managing projects or programs in a mid- to large scale corporate environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of project management methodologies, tools and techniques (e.g., PMI PKBOK, PMP training, Agile, SDLC, etc.)
  • Requires management ability to provide assistance to others to effectively identify, explain and obtain acceptance of concepts which may involve controversial issues or represent significant change.
  • Ability to investigate new approaches, conduct studies of a theoretical nature and analyze complex tangible and intangible data to determine trends or achieve specific objectives or goals.
  • May make suggestions with respect to improving organizational practices, policies or procedures.
  • A passion for coaching and developing coworkers and project team members to achieve positive project outcomes.
  • Demonstrated aptitude facilitating meetings, achieving meeting objectives and capturing and managing action items.
  • Experience managing and leading complex, cross-functional project teams with a deep commitment to effective collaboration across all stakeholder groups.
  • Experience managing consultants, external business partners, vendors, RFP processes, SoW / contract processes and project budgets.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in finance, project, program management, etc.

  • Forward-thinking in addition of managing day-today responsibilities and tasks
  • Planning, implementation and monitoring
  • Project lifecycles spanning several months to several years
  • Collaborate with cross-functional leadership (Sales, IT, Operations, Marketing, Finance, Risk & Compliance)

Degree of Independence and Decision-Making
  • The successful candidate must have the ability to work independently with little to no direct supervision.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional senior leadership (Sales, IT, Operations, Marketing, Finance, Risk and Compliance)

Required Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Mentor and guide less experienced project managers.
  • Administrative and supervisor responsibility for IT Project Managers and Analysts

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lead and facilitate meetings and/or conference calls which may require stationary standing or sitting for extended periods of time (several hours)
  • Some out-of-town travel may be required (less than 10% of the time)
  • Must be able to operate a computer and interact with standard office automation applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
