General Summary: Develops, implements, , manages, evaluates and administers the non-credit community education/workforce continuing education programs delivered by the Workforce Development Division and based upon the education and training needs Allegheny County and surrounding communities.
Requirements: Bachelor's degree required (Master's degree preferred) in adult education, business or related field and a minimum of five years' related experience. Strong supervisory and organizational skills required. Ability to be creative, innovative and a team player. Must illustrate the ability to solve problems, multitask, pay attention to details and be flexible. Experience with crisis and problem resolution with a large degree of self-sufficiency and accountability. Familiarity with workforce development, community education and noncredit training a plus.
Duties: 1. Develop and administer the Community Education departmental budget; direct the forecast of additional funds for staffing, capital equipment, materials, and supplies; monitor and approve expenditures; implement mid-year adjustment; and ensure a positive bottom line for the community education department at all campuses at the end of the fiscal year.2. Provide overall leadership, direction and support to ensure that effective Community Education programs are run successfully at each campus/center and align with organizational and financial goals in conjunction with the Workforce Development Division creating an environment that fosters support for reaching and serving the community. 3. Direct, plan, develop and coordinate the Community Education courses at all CCAC campuses.4. Take a direct leadership role to innovate new departmental directions and oversee the development and implementation of a comprehensive marketing plan to promote the Community Education department campus-wide in collaboration with the Workforce Development Division.5. Hire, train and evaluate Community Education departmentstaff to ensure successful and accountable program results while supervising and overseeing the daily community education programming operations at each campus/center.6. Implement and monitor a long-term strategic and short-term departmental operating plan in coordination with the Workforce Development Division.7. Manage marketing activities for Community Education department including market surveys, segmentation and distribution methods on increase enrollment, reduce expenses and produce revenue.8. Recruit hire, train, supervise and evaluate community education instructors for campus, center and site-based semester programming.9. Create, develop, promote, implement and evaluate community education campus-based courses and schedules.10. Research, create and write curricula for new community education courses and programs that align with the mission of the College as it relates to community education11. Manage day to day operations; resolve program issues and other challenges related to personnel, facilities, public relations and customer service.12. Collaborate with campus college leadership to develop program for additional training needs such as rapid response program for specific economic situations.13. Perform other related duties as required or as assigned.
Clearances: Current criminal record/child abuse clearances will be required if offered the position and in order to be employed at the College. The three clearances are Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Records Check, and Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Criminal Background Check.
