Scope of Position:

Reports directly to the Operations Manager and dotted line to Senior VP Finance at Mestek. Directly supports this $20+ million manufacturing facility. Supervises accounting department members and administrative activities as required. Participates as a critical member of division management team working closely with all disciplines to meet production and profitability goals. Performs analyses and forecasts of project profitability on individual standard product and custom fabrication lines. Supports sales, engineering and service areas with competent verbal and written communications on the progress of internal and external cost activities, expense and performance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for supervision of A/P, payroll processing, job costing and job invoicing functions within the accounting department.
  • Responsible for month end financial reporting as required by corporate office and local division.
  • Preparation, analysis and review of monthly job gross margin reports, oversees the gathering of data by other functions for collation by Finance department members.
  • Review monthly gross margin reports to identify all anomalous results. Investigate causes and advise profit center managers on solutions.
  • Responsible for annual physical inventory supervision and costing of same. Devise, implement and maintain cycle counting and other methodologies to minimize need for annual physical inventory.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual operating budgets and business planning, focused on volume and margin expectations as well as operating department budgets..
  • Analyze monthly financial statements at the gross margin and gross profit level for completeness and accuracy and report deviations from budget.
  • Support all departments with cost to budget analysis including investigatory activities and solutions.
  • Responsible for all corporate accounting reporting and accounting requirements, work closely with Formtek group controller and act as accounting liaison between corporate office, group and local division
  • Responsible for the maintenance and upgrades to all hardware and software business IT systems at the division and group.
  • Works with corporate IT department as needed for direction on above
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities as assigned

Position Requirements:

  • 4-year degree in Accounting; Business Administration or Management degrees acceptable if coupled with relevant on-the-job experience
  • 5+ years in an accounting environment supporting standard and/or actual cost systems in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong oral and written communications skills
  • Strong understanding of all departmental functions and responsibilities within a business unit
  • Capable using Word, Excel and PowerPoint software
  • Strong computer systems (hardware/software) knowledge as it relates to system installation and support. Experience with all Windows operating systems and networking systems. Experience with all functions of an ERP software system. Made2Manage a plus.
  • Some travel (less than 20%) required
