Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks a passionate and driven individual to join our team as an Application Engineering Intern.

As an Application Engineering Intern, you will have the opportunity to work with, and learn from SEL's technical experts who serve the power system industry from renewables to industrials, from metering to generation, from travelling wave fault location to 61850 digital substation, and much more!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Learn about Protection, Automation, Networking and Metering products.
2. Manage S&CS lab to allow for remote connectivity and remote low level testing capability.
3. Perform testing on existing and new technology products. Current and voltage injection using test sets, as well as testing related to automation products, and networking.

4. Support application engineers to develop best practice application guides for SEL technology that provide secure and compliant solutions.

5. Manage the lab devices and accessories inventory. Relays, automation controller, fiber optic transceivers etc. Be the lab and inventory custodian.
6. Research, learn and help customers with their technical challenges and application queries.

7. Document test bed activities and results.
8. Follow and apply SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.

Required Qualifications
Current student pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, or related field

Ability to work part time during the school year and full time during the summer
Self-motivated/self-starter
Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills
Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
Background check results satisfactory to SEL
Negative drug test result(s)

Pay Range Data

($17.50 - $32.50 per hour)* Our intern pay is determined based on the internship role (the work you would be doing) and your year in school (when you plan to graduate). Talk to your recruiter if you are curious about the rate for your year in school.
