Who are we looking for?

GHD is seeking an Intermediate Scientist to work with our Contamination Assessment Remediation (CAR) group as a CAR professional supporting environmental investigation, cleanup, and compliance projects in the southeastern United States. This position will be based in our Atlanta (Buford), Georgia office.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

  • Provide technical and project management services to our existing and future clients on a variety of projects
  • Prepare technical correspondence, project proposals, technical reports, work plans, and project specifications including cost estimates and budgets
  • Support multi-faceted environmental compliance projects including air permitting, EPCRA reporting, TRI reporting, NPDES Permitting, SCC Plans, SWPPPs, and other facility compliance requirements.
  • Interact with internal and external clients, contractors, regulators, and service providers
  • Fieldwork planning and coordination of subcontractors and staff during drilling, excavating, trenching, remediation system construction, etc.
  • Conduct environmental sampling and monitoring for various media and contaminants of concern by following established procedures, when required
  • Be available for occasional after hours response to environmental emergencies to perform field tasks.
  • Participate in a proactive safety culture of continuous improvement
  • Support/mentor junior team members in a learning and collaborative environment
What you will bring to the team:
  • Bachelor of Science (Engineering, Geology, or Science)
  • 10+ years' experience including a mix of field, data evaluation and interpretation, technical report writing, and facility compliance coordination and management
  • Professional Designation/License (Engineer, Geologist, etc.) or other industry certifications is a plus
  • Experience overseeing the implementation of environmental investigation, remediation, construction, and compliance projects
  • Experience in coordinating and simultaneously managing multiple tasks while maintaining a high degree of attention to detail in a consulting environment.
  • Critical thinking and problem solving-ability to identify multiple solutions to a problem
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Positive attitude, very strong interpersonal skills
  • Establishing and maintaining harmonious working relationships with superiors, co-workers and clients - effective collaborators are welcome
  • Self-starter and willingness to work in a team in a fast-paced environment
  • OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER certification
  • Practice and maintain solid safety minded behavior and practices.
