GHD has an opportunity for a Global Thought Leadership COE Leader and Managing Editor. In this role, you will lead GHD's Thought Leadership Platform-\"The Nexus\".

As Managing Editor, you will lead GHD's Thought Leadership Platform - "The Nexus".
The ideal candidate for this role must be a deep thinker, a curious individual, an attentive listener, and an empathetic interpreter of the audience's needs and interests. Collaborating with a rotating cast of subject matter experts, the candidate will help them tell their stories effectively. Open-mindedness, an eternal student mentality, and critical thinking are crucial for success in this role. Exceptional writing skills are required to handle diverse writing projects, especially those that delve deep, break down data, and look beyond surface-level facts.

The successful candidate will conduct thorough background research to understand the topics at hand fully. They will consider the big picture and underlying historical patterns, respecting subject matter experts' ideas and insights while also providing evidence to support them. The candidate will challenge assumptions when necessary and will push subject matter experts to view their ideas from different perspectives, particularly that of the target audience. This position demands a commitment to delivering high-quality, well-researched thought leadership that resonates with readers and meets the organization's objectives.

In this diverse role you will be involved in the following:

Define and execute editorial strategy
• Identify the target audience, set guidelines, and create a style guide. Choose content formats and channels, define publication frequency, and establish a content creation process. Develop an editorial calendar to schedule publications, focusing on the target audience and key issues.
• Develop process maps and workflows, editorial team SLAs, legal guidelines, content templates, training materials and quality criteria, and overhaul the firm-wide style guide to ensure efficiency, consistency, and quality control.

Manage editorial staff
• Build the centralized editorial team and process from the ground up, establishing a "beat reporting" structure in which editors are assigned to markets, working hand in hand with the firm's SMEs to develop their ideas effectively, and then collaborating directly with the production team to package the content compellingly and in line with brand standards.

Write thought leadership
• Take a hands-on approach to writing and developing high impact thought leadership, including articles, op-eds, research reports, to • This role is the source of thought leadership ideas for GHD. Drive the development of an insights generation strategy and change management plan to ensure that the firm nurtures the creation of innovative ideas from all corners of the organization while elevating the best ideas for clients. Partner with media companies, research firms, and others to develop joint thought leadership.

Review and approve thought leadership
• This role is the final authority on the quality and accuracy of the thought leadership that is published. Review and approve all the content that is produced by the team, ensuring that it meets the editorial standards and guidelines, as well as the legal and ethical requirements. Check for errors, inconsistencies, and plagiarism, and make any necessary revisions or corrections.

Monitor and evaluate content performance
• Lead audience development and growth strategies, working with marketing and analytics teams to track progress and optimize performance.
• Manage the editorial budget, including FTEs and freelance resources. Adjust resources as necessary to optimize profitability while maintaining content quality and editorial standards.

Stay updated and innovative
• Constantly research, analyze, and anticipate the trends, needs, and interests of GHD's target audience, as well as the competitive landscape and industry best practices.
• Develop and implement a plan to incorporate Generative AI into editorial practices where appropriate. Experiment with and evaluate the impact of Generative AI tools to enhance content creation distribution, and analysis, staying at the forefront of AI-driven content trends.

What you will bring to the team:
• 15+ years of professional writing and editing experience.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills, with a track record of developing editorial staff.
• Expert writing and editing skills, with a strong journalistic background.
• Excellent project management and organizational skills.
• Ability to quickly learn multiple, complex subjects concurrently.
• Mastery of content production and storytelling, as well as content promotion techniques.
• Hands-on experience leading and managing a multifaceted team of thought leadership and production professionals, as well as interdepartmental project teams.
• Proven success in setting targets and creating data-informed editorial strategies that lead to audience growth across platforms and mediums.
• Strong collaboration skills and experience working across cross-functional teams, with proven ability to advocate for your vision while empathizing with other teams' needs.
• Excellent editorial judgment and a deep understanding of content strategies for diverse professional audiences.
• Demonstrated experience experimenting with Generative AI and the ability to develop a plan to leverage AI tools for content creation and optimization.
