Departmental Objective:Facilities Management is responsible for maintaining campus buildings utilizing the carpentry, plumbing, electrical and HVAC trades as well as housekeeping and floor maintenance.
Purpose of the Position:Responsible for leading and coordinating HVAC Technician 's daily work activities while providing hands-on participation regarding the installation, operation, and maintenance of the University's heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) equipment, associated systems, and controls. Operates energy management systems. Assists the Supervisor with the setup of preventative maintenance programs and ensures completion within the designated timeframes. To perform all work in a professional, conscientious and safe manner. To provide a safe and comfortable environment through repair and maintenance of all HVAC equipment. Procurement of materials and supplies, using small purchase credit card and eVA. Maintains records for purchases. Tracks inventory. Schedules and provides quality assurance of work performed by outside contractors. Assists the HVAC supervisor in the recruitment and hiring process by reviewing and screening applications, interviewing potential new HVAC Technicians and Assistants, and making recommendations to hire. Assists in the training of Facilities Management procedures, practices, paperwork and properly maintaining carts and vehicles. Assist in the technical training of University Maintenance Staff. Assists in presenting safety topics. Performs other duties as assigned. Performs supervisory functions in the absence of the Supervisor.
