Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the Department of Neurosurgery at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for an Instructor position in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). Expertise is required in the specific area of pediatric spinal deformities, genetics and phenomics. Applicants must have an M.D or M.D./Ph.D. degree. Preferred applicant must have completed a pediatric neurosurgery fellowship and be ABNS board eligible in Neurosurgery and Pediatric Neurosurgery.
Responsibilities may include clinical obligations such as brain, spine and peripheral nerve surgery, including, but not limited to, spinal deformity, congenital spinal disorders, spasticity, hydrocephalus, trauma and skull base pathologies. Teaching responsibilities may include the education and training of medical students, residents and fellows as well as formal lecture opportunities within the department. Lastly, there may also be research or scholarship responsibilities to include the development of a translational research program in multi-omics, including phenomics and AI based techniques, writing of grants, reports, and manuscripts.
The successful applicant will have an opportunity to demonstrate clinical excellence in the management and surgery of pediatric brain, spine, and peripheral nerve diseases as well as demonstrate a translational research portfolio focused on leveraging multiomics techniques to uncover the pathobiology of disease.
