American Battery Solutions has a full-time opening for an Inventory Clerk in Lake Orion, Michigan.

Job Summary

The Inventory Clerk is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records, ensuring the smooth and efficient management of stock levels and managing the incoming and outgoing materials for manufacturing operations. This position plays a key role in tracking and organizing inventory to meet company goals, ensuring timely availability of products, and supporting the overall supply chain operations.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and store inventory in designated locations, ensuring proper labeling and arrangement.
  • Pull parts from inventory and supply to the manufacturing floor.
  • Organize kits and/or fill kanban system as required to supply material.
  • Conduct inventory counting processes to ensure shipment accuracy.
  • Work with the Supervisor on inventory procedures and product inventory methods.
  • Work with purchasing and processing to utilize on-hand stock.
  • Communication with Quality team about any inventory issues that arise if products are missing or damaged within a shipment.
  • Follow First in First Out (FIFO) and identify and notify your supervisor about unused, expired, and obsolete materials Maintain inventory records.
  • Set up new warehouse locations and implement new layouts.
  • Merge or reduce the size of containers to reduce the space required for storage.
  • Material Resource Planning (MRP) system transactions.
  • Pull material from inventory
  • Transfer material from/to locations
  • Interplants movements
  • Quality Hold
  • RMA Movements
  • RMA Part Processing
  • Load, unload, and move materials within the warehouse and on or off trucks.
  • Verify packing slips of incoming material prior to signing for it, ensuring all items are accounted for.
  • Inspects package/containers for transportation damage or defects, notifies Supervisor and/or purchasing.
  • Back up for shipping and receiving as required.
  • This requires Haz-Mat training, packaging training, and cross training with shipping dock for all processes and procedures.
  • Prepare invoices, and shipping documents.
  • Understand Export compliance and requirements to ship outside of the USA.
  • Utilize Customer Shipping and Truck shipping in PLEX.
  • Utilize SharePoint to obtain shipping requests.
  • Utilize UPS shipping tool.
  • Understand Haz-Mat shipping requirements.
  • Know how to placard shipments for Haz-Mat.
  • Equipment verification
  • Adhere to federal and state regulations.
  • Adhere to all company policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
  • Predictable and reliable attendance.
Position Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a shipping and receiving role, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must be proficient in one or more MRP systems.
  • Previous experience operating a forklift is required.
  • Basic math skills including decimals and fractions.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude.
  • Basic quality inspection abilities.
  • Spatial organizational skills.
  • Knowledge and ability to use KanBan system.
  • Ability to interact with others and provide proper customer service.
  • Fluent in use of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Outlook, Teams, Notes, etc.), Share Point and SmartSheet.

  • Must work rotating shift schedule and overtime as required.
  • Maintain logs and inspect and maintain machinery.
  • May work in a variety of weather including heat and cold.
  • Prolonged periods of kneeling, bending, crouching, and climbing ladders.
  • Must be able to bend, lift, stretch, stoop, push, pull, stand, and carry as needed to inspect, service, and operate machinery, equipment, and gauges.
  • Prolonged periods working on feet, using tools, and performing repetitive actions that entail frequent bending and stooping. Able to work in confined spaces.
  • Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines and inspect parts produced.
  • Ability to maintain single task focus and situational awareness.
  • The noise level in the work environment can be moderately loud.
  • The ability to respond quickly to sounds.
  • The ability to see, react, and respond to dangerous situations.
  • The ability to wear personal protective gear correctly most of the day.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds with assistance.
