Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Lab Manager to join the Ferris Lab in the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center. This lab investigates mechanisms of anti-tumor immunity in the microenvironment, as well as immune escape mechanisms developed by tumor cells to evade NK and T cells elimination. Dr. Ferris's lab also studies immune checkpoint receptors and cellular immune mechanisms of anti-tumor responses and immunotherapy in phase I and phase II clinical trials, as well as correlative studies of immune markers in the serum and tumor microenvironment. The Lab Manager will play a pivotal role in supporting and overseeing the daily operations of the lab, ensuring the smooth execution of research projects, and maintaining a safe and efficient working environment. This individual will be responsible for a range of activities, including conducting research, providing logistical support, protocol management, data organization and analysis, and contributing to the preparation of grants and publications.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent); for candidates demonstrating comparable independent research productivity, will accept a relevant Bachelor's degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and 3 or more years of relevant experience in substitution. May require terminal degree and licensure.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:

Must demonstrate the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
Must have experience with database and specimen management.
Must have experience working with human tissue (human cell lines & human specimens).
Must possess expertise in both wet lab and dry lab skills.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:

Priority will be given to candidates who:
Possess a solid understanding of research principles, study design, laboratory processes, data collection and analysis.
Have prior experience with lab management duties in an immunology lab environment.
Can utilize, repair, and operate equipment and instruments essential to the function of the laboratory with minimal supervision.
Possess strong oral and written communication skills to assist in grant writing and proposal development.
Have experience training and/or supervising others in a lab setting.
