Job Purpose:

Reporting to the Electrical Supervisor, the incumbent serves as lead for the Electrical Department in maintaining and repairing the university's electrical power distribution systems and equipment; performing minor elevator repairs; and maintaining emergency phone systems and other equipment.

Job Summary:

• Installs and repairs all types of electrical equipment.
• Installs all manner of electrical conduits and all related items required to facilitate the pulling of electrical conductors through the conduit systems.
• Sets up and operates special sound and lighting systems for campus functions.

Required Qualifications:

• High school diploma.
• Four years of professional experience in electrical work.
• Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

Technical training in electrical work gained through formal education or apprenticeship program.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Summary:

Knowledge of tools, equipment and materials used in electrical work. Knowledge of best practices and techniques used in electrical work. Ability to follow complex technical instructions and directions. Ability to read blueprints and drawings. Ability to drive university vehicles. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and supervisors. Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather. Ability to work nights and weekends in emergency situations.
