Who We Are:

The Aerospace Systems Engineering Section in the Strategic Aerospace Department provides an array of engineering support for several US Air Force Global Strike Command and Department of Defense programs. We provide engineering services to projects involving the design, development and maintenance of hardware and software systems for the strategic aerospace community, including aircraft and ground support equipment ranging from microcircuits to major subsystems. This position has the option of being a fully remote in the following states: AL, AZ, AR, Dis. of Columbia, FL, GA, MA, MD, MI, MN, NH, NC, OH, OK, OR, TX, UT, VA, WV only. The Alternate work location is Oklahoma City, OK.

Objectives of this Role:

  • Work with Nuclear Surety Requirements (e.g. AFI 63-125, AFMAN 91-118/91-119, AFI 91-107) - Experience with Fault Tree Analyses, Signal Path Analyses, and Technical Risk Assessments.
  • Development of Statement of Work.
  • Creation of Technical White Papers and Analysis.
  • Perform and support evaluations of designs for nuclear surety requirement compliance.
  • Electrical drawing development, review and analysis.
  • Direct, develop, and perform management operations that involve planning, coordinating, and analyzing nuclear certification actions required to support Air Force nuclear weapon system programs to include support equipment, automated test equipment, and software.
  • Support USAF and Global Strike Command radiation hardened programs.
  • Advise and assist in development and verification of nuclear certification requirements, and processes associated with development, fielding, and modernization of Air Force nuclear weapons systems.
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:
  • The Nuclear Survivability Systems Engineer will develop requirements and shielding architectures that involve all major subsystems of an interceptor, missile, or space system, from sensors and electronics to thrusters and power systems
  • Systems engineering experience in systems and electrical design of missiles, avionic systems or space systems including assignments with radiation effects responsibilities or similar
  • Perform trade studies of numerous shielding materials and thicknesses to meet program requirements; concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal
  • Cable and wire design; thorough understanding of electrical circuit design within the system application; Conduct technical planning, specification derivation, modeling and, design, test planning and implementation, documentation, verification/validation to support overall system.
  • Familiar with Government acquisitions.
  • Familiar and/or experience with government Nuclear Certification; evaluation of circuit performance of various circuit types while they are exposed to radiation environments
Requirements:
  • Requires a Bachelors or a Masters degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
  • 7+ years: Experience in radiation/emp design of wire harness, analog and digital circuits, and PWB with 3-5 years of experience in embedded electronic circuit design/test, Electrical Wire Harness Design.
  • 7+ years: Experience in working with Systems Engineering of Radiation/EMP Hardened Systems.
  • 7+ years: Experience in designing radiation/EMP hardened electronics. Experience using software applications to perform radiational hardened analysis.
  • 7+ years: Experience in mitigation of radiation effects at device-level (technology and/or layout modifications), circuit-level (layout and/or schematic and/or topology modifications). Experience in single-event mitigation techniques for analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits.
  • A valid/clear driver's license is required.

Special Requirements:

Work assignment is in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Applicant selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen.
