What we need:

Mohawk is looking for a Material Handler I to excel in our manufacturing plant. This person is responsible for all material handling within the Press department. You will maintain line efficiencies by supplying raw materials to the line including bonded elements, pallets of paper, core board, boxes, and shrink wrap. You will use business operating systems such as Shop Floor and Locus to keep inventory status and material locations up to date. You will also operate all material handling equipment including powered industrial trucks, hoists, pallet jacks and floor scrubbers.

What you'll do:

  • Fills out pre-shift inspection forms before getting on forklift.
  • Loads and unloads trailers as required.
  • Physically stores and locates raw material as needed
  • Uses computerized inventory system to store and retrieve materials and verifies each pallet of material matches the manufacturing order before loading the buffer or loading material onto a truck to be shipped.
  • Perform quality checks on incoming raw materials including, measuring material to determine if material meets milling specifications
  • Operate industrial trucks, conveyors, carts, and buffer and performs daily inspections on equipment as required
  • Informs line operators of materials staged on the floor and in the production line.
  • Keep raw materials separated and ready to load onto production lines by product specifications and line requirements.
  • Communicates to oncoming shift how much is left and where material is for current order and where the next order is staged.
  • Returns empty pallets and protector boards to the correct area.
  • Charges and changes batteries on forklift during the shift when needed
  • Performs housekeeping duties such as sweeping floors, cleaning under buffer and conveyors, taking out trash and other housekeeping duties as needed.
  • Compliant with all operations procedures and safety policies/processes
  • Other duties as assigned by members of management
  • Attend any job-related training deemed necessary by supervisor
What you have:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Forklift driving experience required
  • Ability to operate on-board RF equipment and have a basic understanding of the AS-400 system.
What you're good at:
  • Good oral/written communication skills to communicate with others on the team and in related support areas.
  • Ability to follow simple verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations, including conversion to metric.
What else?
  • Must be able to lift 50 - 80 lbs. numerous times throughout shift.
  • Must be able to work a full 12-hour shift on a rotating schedule.
  • Must be able to walk, stand, bend, push, pull and reach for long periods of time.
  • Must be willing and able to work any shift or any amount of hours deemed necessary by management
