The University of Iowa Community Clinics (UICC) is seeking a patient centered Nurse Clinical Coordinator to support our UI Community Bettendorf. This position provides nursing leadership and oversight for Family Medicine, Dermatology, Endo and Outreach patient care populations that are served within UI Community Clinics and Clinical Outreach. Functions as a clinical nurse expert for patients and UICC. The nurse will facilitate communications between medical staff, management, patients and/or family to provide excellent customer service. This position will serve as a liaison role to provide the dissemination of information and education to clinical care team.
Key areas of responsibility include:
- Assists and acts a liaison with supporting new initiatives including new service lines, expanding clinics, adding new providers, etc.
- Collaborates with nursing, medical staff, and other health professionals in planning, delivering, and evaluating care for primary and specialty patient populations.
- Leads nursing personnel in providing specialized patient procedures and care management plans
- Leads or participates in evidence-based projects within specialty area and collaborate with the appropriate CPL or NPL staff member to implement practice changes.
- Provides specialized health education to patients and health profession students
- Adheres to internal and regulatory policies and guidelines
- Creates clinic staffing schedule and represent clinic at daily staffing huddles; trouble staffing gaps and identify solutions
- Assists with reviewing benefit request in time tracking system
- Participates in recruitment, developing, and managing performance of staff
- Applies expertise in communicating real time feedback and direction to clinical staff
- Serves as a liaison between clinical staff, family members, and UICC leadership
- Applies expertise in specialized field to improve nursing outcomes, leads and participates in evidence-based projects, and implements team-based care
- Troubleshooting and managing facility issues in real time
- Participates in Quality Improvement (QI) initiatives
- Provides direct patient care/nurse triage responsibilities as needed, floating to other clinics as needed
- Driver's License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards
- Other clinic duties as assigned

UICC is home to providers and staff that provide comprehensive care outside of the hospital setting and give the community a sense of care whenever they need it most.

Percent of Time: 100% Schedule: 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, variable shifts between 8 - 10 hours with work hours between 7:45 AM - 7:00 PM with limited, rotating weekend coverage.

Required Qualifications: - A Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is required
- 1-3 years of nursing experience is required
- Valid license to practice nursing in the state of Iowa
- Excellent organization and time management skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Internet
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Driver's License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards
Desired Qualifications: - 1 to 3 years' experience in patient care, particularly those with ambulatory and triage in an ambulatory setting.
- Demonstrated leadership and training skills (might include but not limited to: Charge Nurse or Lead Staff Nurse, etc.)
- Excellent interpersonal skills with patients, families, and health care workers
- Professional nursing certification is desired
- Familiarity with UIHC ambulatory clinic workflows
