Nursing Assistant Adjunct
Salary: $5,000 - $6,000 per 5 credit hours
Classification: Adjunct Faculty
Reports to: Nursing Assistant Program Director
The base salary will include an additional 26.5% pay adjustment to meet industry standards
Olympic College is continuously seeking qualified part-time nursing faculty to begin teaching each quarter. The Nursing Assistant Faculty at Olympic College is a motivated, caring, enthusiastic, and unique team of individuals who continually strive for personal and professional excellence. Essential Functions
Prepare and teach courses in the Nursing Assistant program.Provide class syllabi to students enrolled in classes and to the division office as requested.Maintain accurate records of students and completed forms as required.Prepare and teach theoretical and clinical nursing assistant content, reflective of the philosophy and conceptual framework of the nursing program.Determine appropriate clinical assignments for Nursing Assistant students.Provide clinical supervision and evaluation.Document each student's progress; determine, in collaboration with the student, a plan for achieving success.Attend clinical orientation and faculty meetings.Participate in Nursing Assistant program academic assessment processes.Participate in theory and clinical course evaluation identifying both strengths and areas for development.Participate in the maintenance of approval status for the WA Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission.Collaborate promptly with the Nursing Assistant Program Director regarding student and/or course issues.Keep abreast of program policy and procedure changes.Facilitate scholarly activities.Establish and maintain relations with internal and external constituencies.Collaborate with peers and the Nursing Assistant Program Director.Perform other related duties as assigned and/or required.The statements herein are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by the employee in this position. Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) from an accredited College or UniversityMinimum of one year experience within the past three years in caring for the elderly or chronically ill of any ageCurrent, unencumbered, RN license in WA state or ability to obtain WA RN licensure before employmentCurrent American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers certificationExperience with supervision of nursing assistantsBasic level computer competency, including Microsoft Office applicationsPreferred Qualifications:
Completion of a course in adult instruction;Experience teaching adults over and above in-service education or patient teaching.Successful applicant will be able to:

Terms of EmploymentPlease note that we are unable to sponsor visas for this position. Only candidates who are currently authorized to work in the United States will be considered.
Faculty members must submit official, unopened transcripts to the Human Resources department within 30 days of their employment.This is an adjunct faculty position contracted on a quarterly basis. The salary listed is a range based on per quarter. A collective bargaining agreement exists, and this position is covered by the Association for Higher Education (AHE). Flexibility is required to meet the needs of the department. Evening and/or weekend classes, instruction at satellite Olympic College campuses, and off-campus assignments including travel to clinical sites may be a part of the instructional load.
Adjunct positions at the college are open continuously and reviewed on a quarter-by-quarter basis. Individuals who apply to the applicant pool are considered active for a period of 12 months from the application date and may be contacted when vacancies occur. Adjuncts are not eligible for benefits upon their initial hire. Adjunct faculty must work 50 percent of a full-time load for two consecutive quarters to become eligible. Additional hours earned at other SBCTC colleges may count towards this requirement. Adjuncts are not initially eligible for benefits upon hire but could qualify for the following.
