Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit:The UNC Adams School of Dentistry Division of Craniofacial and Surgical Care provides a diverse approach to treatment for patients with craniofacial or oral and maxillofacial conditions, including those with multiple or complex oral health problems. An interdisciplinary team of faculty in craniofacial oral health care, oral and maxillofacial surgery, orthodontics, and hospital and special care dentistry lead the division.
Position Summary:The Division of Craniofacial and Surgical Care of the Adams School of Dentistry at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is recruiting for a fixed-term clinical faculty member. The principle focus of this position is to serve as Residency Program Director. Responsibilities include oversight of the OMFS Residency program, didactic and clinical instruction of residents, externs, medical students and dental students as well as participation in the Dental Faculty Practice. Additionally, this position will provide maxillofacial call coverage at UNC Hospitals and the UNC Adams School of Dentistry (ASoD). Numerous opportunities for collaboration exist within ASoD, UNC Health and throughout the University.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:Candidates must have a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) as well as be board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. In addition, candidates must possess a minimum of three years' experience post residency/fellowship completion. Candidates must have anesthesia training making them eligible for a NC general anesthesia permit.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:Doctor of Medicine (MD); interest in cosmetic and/or implant surgery preferred. A past record of scholarly activity is desirable, and the continued pursuit of scholarly activity is expected.
Campus Security Authority Responsibilities:This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. This position will be required to report Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and complete annual training about reporting responsibilities.
