Are you interested in a Float Pool opportunity? Join our dynamic WellStar Enterprise Support Team (WEST) and become a vital part of ensuring seamless staffing across WellStar facilities! As a member of the WEST Team, you'll have the exciting chance to float to various units based on the greatest need, with unit assignments determined by WFE leadership, considering your clinical expertise and skill mix.

This role not only allows you to make a meaningful impact wherever you're needed most, but also provides the opportunity to utilize your unique skill set in supportive roles, even outside your usual practice, or take on modified patient assignments tailored to your competencies. We are seeking an Occupational Therapist to assess, plan, and implement rehabilitative programs aimed at restoring or improving patients' daily living activities, mobility, cognitive functions, strength, coordination, and range of motion after injury or illness. You will deliver services across various settings with a focus on quality, cost-effectiveness, and patient-centered care, while ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.

Core Responsibilities:

Patient Assessment

  • Collaborate with physicians to establish and evaluate treatment programs, care plans, goals, and discharge plans tailored to patients' occupational therapy needs.
  • Develop care plans in partnership with patients and their families.
  • Create realistic discharge plans that reflect the goals of patients and family members.

Treatment Planning and Care Provision
  • Implement occupational therapy treatment plans.
  • Select appropriate activities to help patients achieve their goals.
  • Revise goals and care plans based on patient and family input.
  • Provide ongoing education and training for patients and families.
  • Offer discharge instructions and referrals to community resources as needed.
  • Serve as a resource for staff, families, and physicians regarding rehabilitation services and equipment.

Documentation
  • Document evaluations and care plans in accordance with departmental guidelines.
  • Maintain records of each treatment session per departmental protocols.
  • Complete required documentation, including family education and discharge instructions, following facility guidelines.

  • Ensure patient confidentiality and maintain punctuality in line with system policies.
  • Comply with the departmental dress code, including displaying an ID badge appropriately.

  • Organize workload to meet responsibilities efficiently and safely.
  • Observe infection prevention protocols.

  • Apply AIDET principles consistently in patient interactions.
  • Promote a supportive environment for both coworkers and patients, fostering teamwork and respect.

Professional Development

  • Complete core and annual competencies within established timelines.
  • Fulfill educational requirements to maintain licensure.
  • Participate in the orientation and training of new employees.
  • Comply with all mandatory hospital/system requirements.

Required Minimum Education:
  • Master's or Associate's degree in Occupational Therapy.

Required Licenses and Certifications:
  • Occupational Therapist licensure (required upon hire).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or Instructor certification.

Experience:
  • Minimum of 2 years as an Occupational Therapist.

Required Skills:
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Team-oriented mindset.
  • Basic computer proficiency.
