Position Overview

The Sales Representative reports to the Sales Manager and is responsible for developing and maintaining favorable relationships with current and potential customers, achieving sales goals of our Ready-Mix Concrete and Building Materials business, developing short- and long-term sales strategies and sales plans to increase the OPCO and regional profit margins.

Territory

Harrison and Marion counties specifically with extended areas south and north to include the I79 Corridor from Rt 33 to the PA line and Rt 50 Corridor to the Ohio line.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

The duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist in developing strategy and tactics that ensure the attainment of company sales goals and profitability in key markets through assigned geography.
  • Conduct in-depth analysis to include on demand forecasting, competitor capabilities, customer profiles and the next best alternatives.
  • Identify and bid all appropriate projects within assigned marketing area. Participate in the development of bid strategy for each job.
  • Establish short- and long-term goals and strategies regarding key clients and prospects. Develop specific action plans to achieve goals.
  • Will be responsible for meeting specific sales volumes and profit margin goals.
  • Partner with other departments (Safety, Quality Control, Production, Operations, Customer Service) to ensure every account receives the highest level of customer service.
  • Communicate with the team to manage and coordinate sales to customers who overlap geographic boundaries and markets, as well as to leverage the portfolio across company boundaries.
  • Actively participate in industry-related associations as needed to develop and maintain key networking and business relationships.
  • Manage relationships with key accounts throughout region.
  • Prospect opportunities and companies and market products within core markets
  • Create and maintain Strategic Opportunity and Account plans for strategic opportunities or accounts.
  • Maintain strong customer and supplier relationships.
  • Maintain a prominent level of market intelligence throughout the region.
  • Must foster a collaborative, team-based approach.
  • Support and follow directives as outlined by the president, controller, chief operations manager, dispatch manager, operations managers, and sales manager.
  • Other duties as required.

  • Strict adherence to Company policies and procedures as outlined in the Company Book of Policies.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as needed.
  • Timely and regular attendance is an expectation of performance for all employees. Employees will be held accountable for adhering to their workplace schedule.
  • Monday - Friday time expectation of 9 to 12 hours with occasional evening, night, and weekend shifts as required.
  • Customer satisfaction is mission critical to our business success and can require, but may not be limited to, in person visits, phone conversations and or follow ups, estimating, scheduling and delivery, outside of normal duty timelines.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience (5 years). Proficient with Windows, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Ability to read and interpret civil design drawings, and engineering production drawings is ideal.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to draft routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions given in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Must be able to stand, walk, sit, reach, drive, use fine motor skills and use repetitive motion. The employee must occasionally bend, kneel, squat, climb or balance.

This position can require an employee to lift to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions and is regularly exposed to wet, humid condition airborne particles, and extreme heat or cold. The employee is occasionally exposed to vibration.

The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud and may require protective equipment.

Working conditions include exposure to noise and working with others.
