Overview:

The School of Computing and Engineering at Quinnipiac University seeks highly qualified applicants who are committed to excellence in teaching for part-time faculty openings in Computer Science and Software Engineering for the Spring 2025 semester and beyond. The school is experiencing steady enrollment growth and is looking to staff several introductory and intermediate lecture and lab sections, and also desires to develop and maintain a pool of candidates should additional part-time openings arise.

About the School/Program:The School of Computing and Engineering became the ninth school at Quinnipiac University on July 1, 2016 (then the School of Engineering). The school offers degrees in civil, industrial, mechanical and software engineering, cybersecurity, and computer science. Housed in the newly renovated Communications, Computing and Engineering building, the school features newly constructed and outfitted laboratories, and classrooms. Dedicated to providing a first-rate computing and engineering learning experience for our students, the school focuses on high-quality instruction, and offers hands-on training, applied learning opportunities and meaningful student-faculty relationships.About Quinnipiac:Quinnipiac is a private, coeducational, institution located 90 minutes north of New York City and two hours from Boston. The current spring semester openings are in day and early evening on-ground sections (some flexibility regarding offering time and modality is possible) for a variety of introductory and intermediate courses. Responsibilities for the position include:

  1. Covering up to 9 credits of courses (12 credits may be possible under certain circumstances).
  2. Designing courses as needed. We have prior material but allow our instructors flexibility in presenting material in their own design and interest.
  3. Presenting material to students in an engaging interactive environment.
  4. Assessing student performance as appropriate throughout the semester.
  5. Holding regular office hours (generally 1 hour a week per 3 credits taught).
  6. Coordinating with other instructors for courses with multiple sections and/or labs.
  7. For some courses, retaining material for course assessment and accreditation purposes.

Education Requirements:
  • A minimum of a Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred, although consideration will be given to excellent candidates who possess practical experience or professional licensure.

  • While prior teaching experience is preferred, we also welcome applicants interested in adding teaching experience to their portfolio
