Duties: The Program Director will manage a co-investment pilot Program which will enable University participation in early financing rounds in companies created through licenses of University-owned intellectual property in two select areas: gene and cell therapy and connected health (the intersection of health technology and behavioral science). Primary responsibilities are but not limited to; point of contact for this pilot Program, manage the initial review process and prioritize funding submissions, work closely with PSOM leadership, screen potential opportunities for co-investment, coordinate all aspects of Penn's due diligence process, work with faculty to prepare materials for scientific assessment of commercial opportunity, evaluate quality of financial syndicate and investors and ensure completion of compliance review.
Qualifications: A Master's Degree or more and 5 years to 10 years of experience in venture capital/private equity preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Industry knowledge and experience in negotiating terms and financing agreements in early stage life sciences deals. Experience coordinating committees and/or task forces. Must be highly organized, excellent communicator, demonstrated ability to work in a complex, matrix environment.
