For the Lincoln patients who are not admitted for accelerated TMS, the Program Leader oversees all aspects of the clinical and administrative functions of the Lincoln residential program and along with the Medical Director and the NP Program Leader ensures that the daily operation of the program meets all licensing and regulatory compliance standards.

The Program Leader will ensure that all clinical activities are evidenced based and meet or exceed community standards. In collaboration with the NP Program Leader is responsible for the development and implementation of all general, emergency, and program-specific personnel policies and procedures necessary to ensure a safe, productive, and therapeutic program. Ensures that all policies and procedures are designed to comply with standards set by the hospital and regulatory and accrediting agencies.

Program Leader must be knowledgeable about the clinical disorders the program treats - patients with treatment resistant depression, all emergency procedures, skilled in training and orienting staff as well as staff supervision and performance management.

Program Leader must work to maintain a clean, safe environment for clients.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Specific Responsibilities/Tasks

A. Working with the Medical Director and the NP Program Leader, the Program Leader is responsible for the development of the program's treatment philosophy for patients with treatment resistant depression.

1. Directs the planning, organizing, coordinating, and monitoring of the program's clinical and administrative activities including group therapy, behavior therapy, family therapy and supports the provision of novel treatments for treatment resistant depression including accelerated TMS. Screens patients for admission

2. Communicates information accurately to appropriate staff regarding issues pertaining to operational policies and procedures.

3. Communicates information about the program to visitors, other professionals, and referral sources.

Coordinates McLean Hospital (Belmont, MA) administrative requirements with those of the Program. Responds to requests from other departments and federal, state, and community agencies.

Acts as liaison to other departments within McLean.

B. Supervision and Management

The Program Leader works closely with the Medical Director, the NP Program Leader and Divisional Leadership and others as indicated below.

1. Directly supervises positions such as CRC's, Clinicians/Case Managers to ensure that all patients are provided with effective programs that enhance their self-sufficiency, empowerment, and inclusion. Works closely with medical staff and coordinates with the appropriate department heads of McLean Hospital in completing work performance evaluations for these positions and in managing any performance related issues or problems.

2. Co-Leads staff meetings and management meetings to ensure that communication systems are in place such that all staff are adequately apprised of all pertinent information. Routinely attends clinical rounds, and other clinical meetings to ensure the delivery of quality services.

3. Notifies appropriate individuals about problems relating to policy and procedures, ethics, and community relations.

4. Develops and maintains a good rapport with referral resources, keeping them informed of critical concerns in a timely fashion.

5. For patients not admitted for TMS, manages all triage and intakes to the Lincoln program and manages collaboration with outside providers, patients, and families for obtaining necessary screening information including discussion of fees and program structure.

6. Generates reports germane to the running of the program.

7. Works closely with the McLean Director of Quality Improvement to ensure that all QI functions are implemented by staff in a timely manner and reports are presented to QI Committee.

8. With Medical Director and NP program leader is responsible for development of all program-specific policy and procedures in coordination with other McLean staff. Ensures ongoing staff orientation and education regarding policy and procedures, for existing as well as newly hired staff.

9. With Medical Director and NP program leader, develops program policies and systems to ensure a safe and therapeutic environment for patients. Ensures staff training in these procedures to ensure implementation of appropriate behavioral programming and data collection.

10. Responsible for participation in monthly administrator on call supports.

C. Training

1.Oversees the development of annual training for designated staff as per requirements from regulatory and licensing agencies.

2 Ensures that the competency-based training program is implemented according to design and provides assessment of and feedback on training skills to relevant staff.

3. Participates in training to update skills.

D. Personnel - for all staff under you:

1. Participates in the selection of new employees.

2. Ensures that designated staff receive ongoing supervision.

3. Integrates McLean employee practices with supervision practices.

4.. In coordination with department heads and personnel directors for McLean Hospital, oversees all disciplinary action taken for employees.

E. Human Rights

1. Maintains confidentiality of all clients.

2. Follows the ethical standards of McLean Hospital and DMH.

3. Reviews all incidents reports, forwards to QA and notifies relevant regulatory agencies when required.

F. Program Promotion/Marketing

1. The Program Leader assists in promoting a good public image of the Program. Assures a consistent intake and admissions process and tracks all caller information.

Qualifications
Education:

PhD or PsyD in Psychology, Social Work, Human Services, Business Administration or Nursing required. Doctoral degree preferred. Independent licensure as clinician preferred.

Skills/Abilities/Competencies Required

Good clinical skills and good managerial skills and ability to work independently. Must possess a range of individual and group therapy skills and have experience with population to be worked with as well as familiarity with current scientific advances in the field.

Must be able to communicate clearly in both written and oral English with supervisors, peers, clients and families. Must have the mental ability to observe and analyze behaviors, assess/evaluate behaviors and situations, communicate with staff, clients, Hospital's executive staff, and representatives of external agencies. Must have clinical expertise to ensure that clients receive effective and appropriate treatment. Familiarity with MA DMH regulations and guidelines preferred.

Must have sufficient skill and ability to manage the daily business functions of the program as well as budget development and oversight. Must have sufficient competence with computer applications to effectively learn and utilize specific clinical and business applications used by the organization.

May require interactions with other program directors within the Partial Hospital and Residential Services and the Mood and Anxiety Division.

All employees must possess basic computer skills to use a variety of electronic or online systems for communication, clinical and administrative purposes. Must be proficient in providing care via virtual platforms.

Required to complete electronic medical records training and demonstrate 80% accuracy on competency test within 30 days of hire.
