Job Summary:

The Global Quality Product Quality Steward / Engineering Fellow provides direction and support for Global Quality data, processes and tools.

What You Will Do:

  • EPO for Product Quality Excellence Awards (7 categories) including:
    • Analysis of prime product data to choose semi-finalists in 5 categories
    • Working with L1-L4 teams on their self-nominated awards in 2 categories
    • EPO Admin tasks
    • Author of the Excellence Awards Sharepoint pages
  • Enterprise quality metrics (DPU) ownership including:
    • Governance of data in the quality data lake and what is a 'defect'
    • Working with the EO on annual targets
    • Providing monthly metric reports to the EO via FSD
  • Enterprise quality data and tools including:
    • Reviewing Snowflake data requests
    • Tool enhancements
    • Tool explanations
  • Dealer facing quality processes and tools including:
    • CPI dealer facing views and dealer access control
    • SIMSi SME
    • PIQ process, tool and data owner
    • DPPM process, tool and data owner
  • Quality data governance including:
    • Author of 'Integrity in Quality Metrics' EP
    • Working with EFDL and other data domains using our data
Education Requirement:

Engineering degree required. Quality accreditation like ASQ CRE and/or CQE recommended.

What Skills You Will Have:

Products and Services :
• Oversees development activities for global quality tools.
• Advises colleagues on VOB and VOC use cases, implementation and operational considerations.
• Coaches others (with various Q&R skill levels) on key factors in problem solving, quality data and tools.
• Develops processes, procedures, and tools for field facing quality data analysis and RCCA
• Promotes understanding of multiple quality related data sets and their unique features and interdependencies.
• Governance and Compliance pertaining to quality data.

Effective Communications :
• Reviews others' writing or presentations and provides feedback and coaching.
• Adapts documents and presentations for the intended audience - both internal and external (dealer) audiences.
• Demonstrates both empathy and assertiveness when communicating a need or defending a position.
• Communicates well downward, upward, and outward.
• Employs appropriate methods of persuasion when soliciting agreement.
• Maintains focus on the topic at hand.

Technical Excellence :
• Advises others on the assessment and provision of all technical solutions.
• Engages appropriate subject matter resources to effectively resolve technical issues.
• Mentors others to enhance their technical competence and its application to achieve more effective technical solutions.
• Coaches others in promoting, defining, analyzing, and providing superior technical solutions to business problems.
• Provides effective solutions to moderate technical challenges through strong technical competence, effectively examining implications of events and issues.
• Assumes accountability for personal technical performance and holds others responsible for theirs.

Technology & Data Advising :
• Collaborates with the Enterprise quality data network to help clients effectively identify, plan for and accomplish technology objectives.
• Supervises others in advising a range of clients across a myriad of products, technologies, services and solutions in the quality data domain and quality data tools.
• Identifies and evaluates emerging technologies and data sets and advises clients regarding their potential business impacts.
• Effectively consults with and conveys technology concepts, quality data, business impacts and other advice to senior client levels.
• Trains others in developing technology business, channel management and client coaching.
• Leverages formal certifications in mastery of multiple areas of technology in demonstrating credibility for client consulting.

Influencing Through Expertise :
• Communicates complex ideas and concepts in a clear and concise manner so that others can understand.
• Exhibits depth and breadth of knowledge, skill, and experience in the quality data and tools field.
• Provides relevant, timely and objective subject matter/process expertise and key insight regarding multiple client business areas and affiliated fields.
• Provides others with information, opportunities, or resources to develop their skills in the area of expertise.
• Discards examples of persuasive arguments lacking evidentiary support or impact.
• Coaches others to enhance their proficiency regarding the tenets, practices, and examples of the 'trusted advisor' credential.

Product Development :
• Utilizes appropriate tools and techniques for converting tool requirements into a technical design.
• Synthesizes input from customers, both end users and tool developers; translates to product development efforts.
• Participates in analyzing Enterprise (both internal and dealer) conditions and recognizes new product opportunities.
• Leads the implementing tool development strategy for a specific function.

Troubleshooting Technical Problems :
• Evaluates business impact of failure and the criticality and timing of needed resolution.
• Resolves difficult or high-impact problems.
• Coaches others how to resolve integration or communications problems in multi-vendor environment.
• Applies specific techniques for isolating a problem and defining resolution approach.
• Explains to users what is/is not a software or data technical problem vs a user perceived problem

Additional Information

The location for this position is Mossville, IL.

Domestic relocation assistance is available for this position.

This position will require up to 25% travel.

Summary Pay Range:
$156,000.00 - $234,000.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
