Job Purpose

The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing the manufacturing operations at AkzoNobel's Aerospace Coatings facility, ensuring the efficient, safe, and quality production of high-performance coatings to meet customer demands. This role focuses on optimizing production processes, managing and developing a high-performing team, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to achieve operational excellence. The Production Manager plays a critical role in aligning production activities with business goals, maintaining compliance with safety and environmental regulations, and fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage daily manufacturing operations to ensure the efficient production of aerospace coatings, meeting quality standards, delivery timelines, and customer specifications.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop production staff, fostering a culture of engagement, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure adherence to AkzoNobel's safety protocols, promote a zero-incident culture, and maintain compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and optimize resource utilization.
  • Partner with Quality and R&D teams to maintain product consistency and resolve any production-related quality issues.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain and Maintenance teams to schedule production, manage inventory levels, and ensure equipment reliability.
  • Drive Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies to increase operational efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Develop and manage the production budget, controlling expenses and aligning with site financial goals.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders such as Supply Chain, Maintenance, Quality, and Commercial teams to meet business objectives.
  • Analyze production data, prepare performance reports, and use metrics to drive informed decision-making and communicate progress to site leadership.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Operations Management, or a related field. Advanced degrees or certifications (e.g., Lean Six Sigma, PMP) are a plus.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role. Experience in coatings, chemicals, or a similar industry is preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead, develop, and motivate teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, with a track record of fostering a culture of safety, quality, and accountability.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, Lean or Six Sigma principles, and proficiency in using ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and production performance metrics.
  • Exceptionalproblem-solving skills with the ability to analyze data, make informed decisions, and communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.

Rewards & Benefits

The annual salary range for these skills is: $110,000.00 - $123,000.00 + 15% target bonus.This is the range that we in good faith anticipate relying on when setting wages for this position. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This salary range may also be modified in the future.
