General Description:

A faculty member at Oklahoma City Community College has the primary responsibility of instruction. Secondary responsibilities include supporting the integrity of curricula, encouraging student success, and promoting the mission of the academic division to which the faculty member belongs as well as the College as a whole.

Minimum Education/Experience:

Master's degree with the successful completion of at least 18 graduate hours in an Information Technology or Computer Science related field.

Experience teaching at the secondary level or higher.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Ability to teach Computer Science and/or Information Technology courses.

Ability to teach a broad array of Computer Science courses.

Ability and willingness to stay current in advances in technology.

Demonstrated positive human relations and communication skills.

Flexible teaching style to accommodate individual learning styles.

Committed to helping students achieve their goals to be successful and attain a college education.

Knowledge of or willingness to learn computer programs used in the department and on campus (such as MineOnline and Moodle).

Organization and attention to detail.

Support and willingness to teach in a competency-based instructional system.
Willingness and proven experience teaching online.

Ability to work independently and coordinate work with colleagues and peers.

Ability to work well as a team member in an instructional unit.

Ability to communicate and articulate concepts in an organized manner both verbally and in writing.

Ability to read and understand content in order to assist students when they are having difficulty interpreting concepts.

Ability to interact in an effective and encouraging manner with students individually and in groups.

Ability to be available for office hours and provide means of communication with supervisor(s) and/or the department or division office.

Must be punctual.

Must be reliable.

Knowledge of the following programming languages; Java, Java Script, C++, C#, or PHP

Knowledge of web and app development.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions:

1. GENERAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Light work: The person in this position may occasionally exert up to 20 pounds of force to grasp, lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.

2. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
This position requires the person to frequently communicate with and listen to students, faculty, staff, and others to perform the essential functions of the position. Must be able to exchange accurate information in various situations.

This position requires the person to frequently move about the classroom to assist students and perform the essential functions of the position.

This position requires the person to frequently remain in a standing and stationary position.

This position requires the person to frequently position self to work with classroom and lab equipment and/or to instruct or assist students.

This position frequently requires the person to operate a computer, other office/classroom equipment and mobile devices to prepare instructional documents, answer email correspondence, and complete other activities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.

3. VISUAL ACUITY:
This position requires the person to judge, observe and assess the accuracy, neatness, thoroughness of work assigned or to make general observations.

4. WORKING CONDITIONS:
This position performs the essential functions in an indoor, classroom or office setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

Doctorate degree in an Information Technology or Computer Science related field.

Professional work experience in Information Technology or Computer Science related field.

Higher Education teaching experience, community college experience preferred in Computer Science or a directly related subject.

Experience with competency-based education.

Experience writing and administering grants.

Required Training:

Compliance training as assigned by institution

Work Hours:

This is a full-time faculty position. Teaching schedules can include on-campus, online, days, nights and/or weekends. Full-time faculty will maintain office hours, attend regularly scheduled meetings, and be available for additional meetings. Full-time faculty may be required to facilitate concurrent courses for local high schools which require onsite teaching as needed.

Job Duties (Duties Assignment Statement):

A faculty member is primarily responsible for supporting student learning by providing quality instruction in courses that the faculty member and the dean agree will be taught. Quality instruction includes clear course objectives, prepared and relevant class activities, effective and understandable presentations of learning materials, fair and understandable grading practices, timely responses to students, and a positive atmosphere in the classroom.

In addition to the primary responsibility for supporting student learning, a faculty member is expected to:

Be available to students by maintaining posted office hours.

Serve as an academic advisor.

Manage program and course curricula by helping select textbooks, evaluating learning materials, and writing course syllabi.

Maintain a flexible schedule to meet program and department needs.

Contribute to developing, implementing, and evaluating approved academic programs and developing new academic programs to meet community needs.

Fulfill course, program, and department goals and objectives.

Participate in the assessment of student learning outcomes for the program and/or department.

Respond in a timely fashion to information requests from program, division, and college administrators.

Attend department, division, and college meetings.

Acquire new knowledge and skills as appropriate for the academic discipline.

Maintain license or professional certification specific to program requirements.

Develop and implement a professional development plan.

Participate in on-campus staff development opportunities.

Participate in mutually agreed upon committees.

Satisfy objectives for mutually agreed upon special assignments.

Participate in faculty-related activities that attract and retain students.

Support the College's vision, mission, goals, and priorities.

This position may be expected to teach any Computer Science or Information Technology related courses.

Job Duties (Safety / Policy & Procedures):

Abide by the policies and procedures published in the Board of Regents Policies and College Policies & Procedures.

Contribute to a safe educational & working environment.

Adhere to established safety and health procedures and practices for the purpose of providing injury and illness prevention for self and others.

Complete quarterly health and safety training pursuant to OCCC's established safety and health procedures and practices.

Participate in all applicable OCCC emergency, evacuation, shelter in place drills and be prepared to take action and assist others in taking appropriate action should a health or safety emergency occur.
