CobbFendley is seeking an experienced Project Engineer in our Houston or Conroe, Texas office.



The Project Engineer will assist in designing natural gas distribution systems and facilities, including piping layout, meter and pressure regulation, and control systems. This role involves reviewing engineering plans, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and implementing natural gas utility improvement projects. The ideal candidate preferably has experience working with natural gas distribution construction drawings and be proficient in the design and execution of natural gas utility projects.

The successful candidates most important qualifications include:

• Minimum of 2 - 4 years of work experience preferably as a civil design consultant in natural gas distribution or related utility industry’s will be considered.
• B.S in Engineering from an ABET accredited school required.
• EIT required, with plans to purse P.E. License.
• Proficiency in AutoCad or MicroStation preferred.
• Ability to contribute to the production of design plan sets required.
• Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Assist Senior Project Managers with engineering design tasks and project management for various gas utility relocation projects to avoid interference with public improvements.
• Assist in representing CobbFendley at client meetings and performing client coordination.
• Apply technical expertise and be able to work with a project team on a variety of applications ranging from feasibility studies to final as-built maintenance records.
• Collaborate with a team of EIT’s, Designers, and CAD Operators, providing support and contributing to project deliverables.
• Assist in evaluation and solution of potential field problems, seeking guidance from more experienced engineers when necessary
• Train to meet company safety standards.
• Adhere to CobbFendley’s safety standards to uphold a safe and efficient environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Sitting and/or standing for extended periods of time.
• Mobility within the office including movement between floors and workstations.
• Repeated motions (e.g., typing, reaching, bending, lifting, and carrying).
• Communication with other employees and clients.

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS

• Most work is performed in a professional office environment. Some trips to client offices and job sites for observations will be required.
• Job site observations factors could include: walking and climbing on uneven surfaces, exposure to outdoor environments and extreme weather (heat and freezing temperatures), noise exposure, driving for extended periods of time, exposure to allergens (e.g., pollen, dust, cedar, sumac, poison ivy), exposure to construction and traffic work zones, possible hand and power tool use, and extended periods of Personal Protective Equipment use.
• Extended use of electronic devices (e.g., computers, printers, copiers, scanners, plotters, and telephones).
• Use of cutting tools and equipment (e.g., plotting equipment, rotary paper cutter).

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

• This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM CST.
• This position may include the need for overtime hours.
