The New School is the only university with a renowned design school and premier colleges focusing on the performing and liberal arts and social sciences, working together toward a more just, more beautiful, better-designed world. Its Curriculum, Learning, and Academic Affairs team, a subset of the Provost's Office, supports the arc of the learning experience at the university by coordinating the development, implementation, and assessment of new and revised curricular programs, partnership activities, and academic policies. Reporting to the Senior Vice Provost, Curriculum Learning and Academic Affairs, and working closely with Vice Provost, Academic Affairs, the ideal candidate for this position will be energetic and committed to collaborative effort across the university to ensure the successful coordination and implementation of projects owned and/or guided by the Curriculum, Learning, and Academic Affairs team.

The successful candidate will have a unique combination of systems thinking, attention to detail, project management, and interpersonal skills. They will coordinate and drive the implementation of Curriculum, Learning, and Academic Affairs work with an ability to both translate strategy into tactic and tactic into strategy.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Project manage work related to Academic Policy, Curricular Initiatives, and Partnership Initiatives;

  • Design and implement project management and other related systems to support the successful execution of projects.

  • Manage and create accountability around timelines for relevant work streams by communicating regularly with CLAA leadership on relevant timelines, processes, and deliverables.

  • In collaboration with the CLAA team, review, monitor, and communicate progress and expectations to units across the university to ensure successful implementation of policies and initiatives and to ensure alignment with the university's curricular and academic affairs responsibilities.

  • Ensure that lines of organizational accountability, including review of policy and procedures; risk assessment; opportunities to increase transparency; remain clear through the work.

  • Provides general administrative support to the Senior Vice Provost and Vice Provost including scheduling, expense and budget management, and coordination with other Provost Office administrative staff.

  • Provides administrative management of select special projects and initiatives related to curricular affairs.

  • Staff or join on appropriate committees as needed in relation to work.

  • Maintain confidentiality and integrity of information.

  • Special projects and other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree.

  • Minimum of three years experience in higher education.

  • Minimum of three years experience in project management.

  • Adept at communication and collaboration with faculty and staff in person and virtually.

  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and social justice.

  • Expert written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with diverse colleagues.

  • Demonstrated organizational skills, ability to pay close attention to detail, and to manage long-term, multi-faceted projects with many participants.

  • Active listener, respectful of the contributions of others.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and with great initiative.

  • Experience with or comfort in contract management through all phases of a lifecycle.

WORK MODE

  • Hybrid/Split - Employees hired for this position have regularly scheduled, consistent percentage of time on campus (eg: 1-4x/week) and also work some of the time remotely.

SALARY RANGE

  • $65,000 - $70,000 per annum
