SUMMARY
This position is responsible for organizing, planning, and delivering customer or proprietary company projects and assisting commercial operations and manufacturing to close new business and provide technical support to improve operational quality and effectiveness. All personal efforts must maintain alignment with departmental standards and with Comar’s Mission, Vision, Values and TPI-Three mindset.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Utilize Comar’s Stage Gate Management Process to organize, plan and deliver high quality, fully integrated end-to-end solutions that meet customer expectations and deliver promised results that encompasses the following elements:
- Selecting project team members, leading team and motivating individual team members from project inception through post implementation lesson learned close out.
- Oversees and directs project teams and manages conflicts within the different groups.
- Responsible for planning and scheduling project goals, milestones and deliverables.
- Defines requirements and plans the project life cycle deployment.
- Defines resources for project and program implementation schedule.
- Identifies and solves project issues effectively.
- Develops RFP (Requests for Proposals) for external services.
- Designs and maintains project and technical documentation.
- Documents projects status reports and provides timely information to all stakeholders.
- Undertakes project strategy creation for contingency planning and risk mitigation.
- Developing Engineering solutions to technical problems.
- Handling tasks that are involved in research and development as well as production.
- Champion Comar’s process improvement culture (TPI-Three) within the department and with external stakeholders.
- Champion Comar’s Stage Gate Project Management Process.
- Extensive inter-department interaction with sales, marketing, operations, engineering, and customers, as well as being directly responsible for critical interface regarding in-house projects and custom proprietary projects.
GENERAL DUTIES - Manage assigned Programs and Projects.
- Support Customer Request for Proposal (RFP) process.
- Develop Capital Project Request (CPR) generation.
- Provide timely program communication to maintain stakeholder awareness and ability to make decisions, managing priorities and eliminating business waste.
- Maintain part number data base integrity and regimentation functions.
- Bill of Materials (BOM), development and maintenance.
- Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) as needed.
- Research best practices.
- Production diagnostics support, troubleshooting.
- Drive continued process improvements, utilizing functional teams as needed.
- Drive competitive improvement strategies, such as off shore mold sourcing and technology improvements.

- Excellent organizational and communication skills with managing various technical resources.
- Exhibits leadership qualities to define requirements for project risks.
- A solid understanding of SPC and SQC controls and techniques is required.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with demonstrated ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and demands.
- Must be able to work autonomously.
- Have excellent time management skills.
- Possesses organization, presentation and customer service types of skills.
- Ability to interact with individuals at all levels of the organization, including communication of complex projects in straightforward terms.
- Must have a strong understanding of plastic processing equipment and plastic materials, including injection molding, injection blow molding, and extrusion molding using polyethylene, polypropylene, PET, polystyrene, and all other thermoplastics and engineering resins.
- Mold and tooling design and understanding, related to plastic processing is required.
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft office suite, database administration, ERP), proficient in:
- Managing and creating pivot tables in Excel
- Willing to become proficient in IQMS (Power user of Oracle or similar software preferred)
- CAD design software, SolidWorks and AutoCad preferred.
- Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma methodologies, Green or Black Belt certified preferred.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
- Ability to confidentially handle sensitive business information.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES - No direct reports
- Lead cross functional teams to effectively execute assigned projects.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEBachelor's degree from four-year College or University in Packaging Technology, Engineering or related field. A minimum of four years of process engineering or technical manufacturing experience in the plastic industry (Injection Molding preferred). Four years related Project Management experience. Medical packaging experience a plus.
LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read, analyze and interpret most complex scientific, technical, financial and legal documents. Ability to compose reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to comprehend and apply principles of advanced math and statistical theory to analyze a problem and present results to technical or non-technical audience.
REASONING ABILITYAbility to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc). Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
