Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit:The Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research seeks to improve the health of individuals, families, and populations by understanding the problems, issues, and alternatives in the design and delivery of health care services. This is accomplished through an interdisciplinary program of research, consultation, technical assistance, and training that focuses on timely and policy-relevant questions concerning the accessibility, adequacy, organization, cost, and effectiveness of health care services, and the dissemination of this information to policymakers and the general public.

The Program on Health Workforce Research Center at the Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research is seeking Research Associates/Project Managers to serve as key members of our dynamic team. The Program on Health Workforce Research and Policy's conducts studies to inform health workforce policy at national, state, and regional levels. The Program provides policymakers with data-driven evidence to inform decisions that affect health professionals, educators, employers, and the general public. The Project Managers/Research Associates will work across state and federally funded research projects including at Sheps Health Workforce NC, the Carolina Health Workforce Research Center, and the Behavioral Health Workforce Research Center.
Duties include creating workplans, monitoring deadlines, and developing and monitoring study-related budgets. Research Associates will utilize quantitative and qualitative research skills to facilitate project completion. Specific research-related functions include data collection, organization, cleaning, analyses; preparing findings for dissemination through project briefs, manuscripts, presentations, website content, newsletters, and social media; and assisting with annual reports, grant writing and submission processes. The Research Associate/Project Manager will report to Dr. Brianna Lombardi, the co- director of the Program on Health Workforce Research and Policy or Dr. Catherine Moore, the Health Professions Data System Director.
Relevant post-Baccalaureate degree required (or foreign degree equivalent); for candidates demonstrating comparable independent research productivity or comparable background in independent academic or instructional activities, will accept a relevant Bachelor's degree (or foreign degree equivalent) and 3 or more years of relevant experience in substitution. This experience may be related to the direction/oversight of programs that focus the academic and research resources of a higher education institution towards community or regional issues.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:Experience managing research projects and federal grants. Experience conducting quantitative and qualitative data analyses, strong writing and editing skills, excellent project management skills, familiarity with data analysis software, and ability to perform descriptive data analysis. Experience writing journal articles, reports, and/or policy briefs. Applicants should have familiarity and knowledge about health workforce research and policy.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:Graduate degree (Masters or PhD) in Public Health, Health Policy, Social Work, Nursing, Public Administration or a related field. Experience with nursing or behavioral health workforce.
