We presently have an opening for a full-time Quality Inspector at our Elkmont, Alabama manufacturing facility. The Quality Inspector will follow Inspection Instructions and check parts with gages supplied. Inspector will pack good parts in crate in preparation to ship. Parts that do not pass gages will be placed in containers, separated by issue. At the end of the shift the Inspector will provide paperwork with the total quantity of good parts and the total quantity of bad parts, with a count of bad parts by issue. Inspector will report to the Quality Manager.
This is a third shift position with work hours Monday through Friday from 10:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. next morning. Responsibilities Inspects purchased parts, incoming material, outside-serviced product, and finished product for conformity to standards,
specifications, and processing requirements.
Conformity may include:
• Proper identity
• Correct quantity and operations performed.
• Visual appearance
• Functionality of assembled product
• Dimensional characteristics using calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
• Audits in-process product checks performed by production personnel.
• Assists with initiating containment activities and documenting the results of product containment actions.
• Verifies rejected material from production, completes reject documentation, and disposes of rejected material.
• Performs process audits when process changes have been implemented.
• Understand and observe safety rules and safe work practices for the workplace.
• Communicate and cooperate with other associates to resolve quality issues.
• Supports facility 6S initiatives.
• Performs other duties as maybe necessary
Qualifications REQUIREMENTS AND EDUCATION
• Attention to detail.
• Basic GD&T knowledge
• Ability to read, write, and interpret standard operating procedures, quality reports, and other written instructions as needed.
• Ability to use lab equipment, i.e. hardness tester, CMM, optical comparator, and abrasive saw.
• Basic analysis and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints.
• Experience using and interpreting measurement devices including calipers, micrometers, gauges, hardness tester, and surface finish tester.
• Teamwork skills.
• Experience as a CNC or manual machinist.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Must be able to lift to 35 pounds continuously for eight hours. Anything lifting above 35 pounds must have the assistance of another employee.
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time during an eight-hour shift.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Accountable for auditing components, in-process, and finished goods at the Elkmont Manufacturing facility.
