Work type: CE - Clinician Educator
Location: Stanford University
Categories: School of Medicine

The Division of Radiation Therapy in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Stanford University seeks board eligible or board-certified radiation oncologists to join its faculty in the Clinician Educator line (open rank). These positions will involve general radiation oncology practice and practice building at our network locations in San Jose and East Bay California, with expectations of coverage and rotations at other network sites. Both Cancer Centers have been awarded full accreditation by ASTRO's APEx - Accreditation Program for Excellence.

The major criterion for appointment as Clinician Educators is excellence in the overall mix of clinical care, teaching, administrative and/or scholarship appropriate to the programmatic need the individual is expected to fulfill. Academic rank will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.

The successful applicant should have an M.D., will have completed their residency in an ACGME-accredited program, and have medical licensure in California by the start date. We are particularly interested in candidates who have strong experience in clinical care and program building at an outpatient cancer center setting. We expect the successful candidate to work with the department to further develop the treatment programs at Cancer Center South Bay and Cancer Center East Bay, while providing clinical care for patients. South Bay and East Bay each have three full-time physicians practicing in those locations. S/he will work to expand the practice by facilitating referrals, initiating and participating in local tumor boards, and identifying patients for clinical trial participation.

Experience in multi-modality treatment planning (e.g., PET, 4D CT, MRI), image guided radiotherapy (IGRT) and stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) and stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), is desired. Interest in clinical sarcoma, lymphoma, and breast radiation oncology is desired. Candidates will have access to state-of-the-art equipment and physics support provided by Stanford Radiation Oncology Physicist faculty. As a faculty member of Stanford Radiation Oncology, the successful candidate will have full access to all Stanford tumor boards and complete support of Stanford faculty chart rounds. In addition, the candidate will be able to refer patients for advanced treatment modalities at our main cancer center in Palo Alto, including Cyberknife, Reflexion BgRT, and our Viewray MRIdian.

The activities of the Division/Department are diverse and include a strong basic science and translational research program. The department is tightly integrated into the medical school and university, with many opportunities for collaborative research within Stanford Cancer Institute, a National Cancer Institute Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Candidates may choose to include as part of their research and teaching statements a brief discussion about how their work and experience will further these ideals.
