Muhlbauer, Inc. seeks to hire a Repair Technician to work in our Machine Shop located in Newport News, VA. The Repair Technician is responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing various types of small assembly groups. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical systems, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Machine Diagnosis and Repair:
    o Inspect and diagnose issues with machinery, tools, and equipment in the shop
    o Perform repairs on mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical components
    o Replace or repair defective parts, using hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment
  • Preventive Maintenance:
    o Conduct routine maintenance on machinery to ensure optimal performance and reduce downtime
    o Maintain records of maintenance and repairs performed
  • Equipment Calibration:
    o Calibrate and adjust machinery as needed to meet production specifications and safety standards
    o Ensure all repaired and maintained equipment is functioning correctly before returning to service
Other Duties as Assigned:
  • Manage day-to-day inventory and shipping operations (logistics).
  • Handle customer inquiries and schedule repairs.
  • Implement and maintain quality control processes.
  • Handle financial aspects and reporting.
  • Support the manager in all aspects of division operations.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or relevant trade school training preferred
  • Proven experience as a repair technician or similar role, preferably in a machine shop environment
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical components
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
  • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Physical ability to lift heavy objects and work in various shop conditions (noise, dust, etc.)
Working Conditions:
  • Work is performed in a machine shop environment with exposure to noise, dust, and moving machinery
  • Regular standing, walking, and lifting of heavy objects are required
