Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit:

The Department of Cell Biology and Physiology (CBP) is a broad and interdisciplinary basic science department in the School of Medicine at UNC-CH. As a top-ranked, nationally recognized leader in basic science research, our faculty and staff are engaged in innovative and cutting-edge research in the areas of neuroscience, cardiovascular biology, cellular cytoskeleton, cell motility and imaging. The CBP breadth of investigation is reflected in our interdisciplinary Cell Biology and Physiology Curriculum, which provides a comprehensive, integrated biological foundation and emphasizes rigor, transparency, integrity, and creative scientific reasoning. Position Summary:

THIS IS A TIME-LIMITED POSITION WITH AN ESTIMATED DURATION OF 2 YEARS.

The Caron lab at UNC Chapel Hill is searching for a Research Specialist position. This Research Specialist position will perform molecular biology and histology techniques, maintain and phenotype murine animal colonies and assist with the maintenance of laboratory reagents and equipment. The position will also assist with the preparation and maintenance of laboratory protocols, inventory, safety and compliance documents and standards.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:

Experience with small animal colonies, including breeding, genotyping and phenotyping are required

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience:

Previous experience with molecular biology, tissue culture and general lab management are desirable.

Special Physical/Mental Requirements :

Must not have allergies to small animals.
