Eurofins Craft Technologies is searching for a Scientist in Wilson, NC. The Scientist II performs testing activities as directed by Business Unit Manager in accordance with all applicable company and regulatory guidelines and designs experiments, operates instruments, assists other chemists, collects and interprets data, writes but also peer reviews data and/or reports especially for challenging, non-routine investigations, custom method development, method validation, unknown/material identification, failure analysis, simple deformulations and select product testing/development work.

Scientist responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following :

• Perform testing activities as directed by Business Unit Manager in accordance with all applicable company and regulatory guidelines.

• Perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision.

• Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees.

• Interact professionally with other employees, customers and suppliers.

• Work effectively as a team contributor on all assignments.

• Promote Lean activities to improve lab efficiency.

• Monitor backlog and plan testing schedule to ensure quoted turnaround times are met.

• Perform wide range of analytical methodology utilizing sample preparative methods as needed for separation of water and fat soluble vitamins.

• Preparation of mobile phases, calibrate pH meter, balance or scale validation, etc.

• Utilizing a good working knowledge of Chromatography, Analytical Chemistry, Biology and/or Biochemistry, Immunology, Genetics and/or Molecular Biology in preparation analysis, quality control, data collection, data evaluation in a variety of complex matrices.

• Knowledgeable in all routine and non-routine methodology, in simple and complex matrixes and compounds using turn-key SOP's and development of new approaches and preparative procedures.

• Proficient and can demonstrate the ability to perform all routine analysis.

• May train and assist lab technicians and other staff, informing and teaching technical data or applications through verbal or written presentations.

• Prepare and submit written analytical reports of laboratory findings and recommend repetition of testing and corrective action in abnormal findings.

• Handling and analytical testing of biological samples.

• Prepares calibration standards and calibrates instrumentation and equipment.

• Perform studies in support of quality control parameters for instruments utilized HPLC, UHPLC, GC and others as needed.

• Works with colleagues to develop new and improve problematic analytical testing through literature findings and research.

• Diagnose, troubleshoot and maintain some laboratory equipment and instrumentation.

• Instrumentation utilized will include a wide array including but not limited to HPLC, UHPLC, GC, Spectrophotometer, ELISA and highly complex equipment (LC-MS/MS) interpretation and other instruments and techniques as needed to meet customer expectations (includes outsourcing selective testing when appropriate).

• Perform and document method transfers, development work, validations/verifications.

• Maintain neat and accurate records.

• Interact with clients to assist in selection of test methods and interpretation of test data. Assist Sales and Business Team members on quote review if requested

• Enter testing data into LIMS and monitor for QC failures.

• Assist lab staff in determining corrective actions for QC failures.

• Review and approve laboratory analytical data including peer review

• Review and issue reports to clients.

• Support the maintenance of controlled documents related to laboratory operations/testing through editing of documents and/or reviewing revisions.

• Support quality system improvements through completion of Corrective and Preventive Action forms, documenting Non-Conformances and Client Complaints, and assisting with internal audit findings as assigned by Analytical Chemistry Operations Manager.

• Support the completion of unknown and failure investigations through testing performance and/or imparting chemical knowledge.

• Maintain regular attendance and punctuality

• Conducts all activities in a safe and efficient manner

• Assist with case studies, white papers if requested by Sr. Management for marketing purposes.

• Attend industry-appropriate symposia, training, webinars, journals to remain current on analytical techniques, new developments.

• Maintain chemical/reagent traceability.

• Performs other duties as assigned

The ideal candidate would possess :

• Use of highly complex equipment, such as LC-MS/MS and ELISA, is desired

• Experience with GLP or peer-reviewed complex studies

• Knowledge of ISO 17025, USDA, FDA and related guidance; experience in method validation and method development

• Excellent written and communication skills

• Excellent attention to details and good organization skills

• Ability to work well independently as well as in a team environment

Basic Minimum Qualifications :

• MS or PhD in analytical chemistry

• HPLC/LCMSMS experience especially with vitamins, supplements, nutritional components, metabolites, pharmaceutical components ; proficiency at GC, HPLC, UHPLC and knowledge of all other major analytical instrument capabilities is imperative

• 5+ years' experience in a commercial laboratory

• Must be available for occasional travel to other Eurofins sites

• Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship

Position is full-time, Monday-Friday, with overtime as needed. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Wilson, NC are encouraged to apply.
