Senior Particle Scientist at MSP
This position is responsible for design, development, and technical support related to MSP, a Division of TSI, technologies. This includes particle deposition equipment, services, and suspensions serving the semiconductor surface defect inspection and metrology market. Ideal candidates have a sound knowledge of particle and aerosol technology, material and chemical properties of particles. Knowledge of processes related to semiconductor mask and wafer metrology is a plus. Among other tasks, the Senior Particle Scientist will work with multi-disciplinary design teams to define technical requirements, determine feasibility, and lay out and maintain a technology roadmap for future products.
What Will You Do?
In order to grow and build a successful career with TSI, you will:
- Evaluate existing methods and develop improved methods for particle deposition equipment, services, and suspensions.
- Evaluate measurement concepts and algorithms for merit and demonstrate ability to convert theoretical concepts into cost-effective, manufacturable instruments.
- Support existing methods and contribute ideas to improve the company's core competency in the area of particle counting, sizing, and wafer deposition. Respond to advanced technical questions from the field.
- Publish papers and generate patent applications relating to the company's measurement needs. This position requires someone that will present a confident and capable impression to customers by presenting engaging and relevant papers related to the field of particle technology.
- Participate on project teams and attend technical reviews offering insights on design.
- Keep active in the fields of interest by reviewing literature, interacting with existing and potential collaborators, and networking with Industrial and Academic colleagues.
- Work with leaders in the field to evaluate, develop, and implement advanced measurement techniques. This can include working from published literature or directly with developers of licensed technologies.
- Be a technical driver of projects - have a working knowledge of all technical aspects (software, hardware, optics, algorithms, and current literature).
- Some travel to key trade shows and conferences to present papers and bring back technical knowledge of the state of the art and competition.
- Involvement in key technical committees related to particle technology and semiconductor metrology.Build relationships with key personnel in the industry.
- Participate in technical feasibility projects.

What Do You Need?Required
- Master's Degree in Engineering or the Sciences from an established research institution
- Strong background in particle technology especially in the area of instrument development
- Good working knowledge of fluid mechanics
- Knowledge of data inversion techniques for electrical or optical particle detection/sizing
- A large toolbox of theoretical and practical tools to tackle problems (simulation tools, CAD, modeling tools)
- Experience with modeling tools such as Matlab, Mathcad, SolidWorks, and COMSOL Multiphysics
- Proficiency in a programming language such as Visual Basic, Python or C/C++
- Excellent hands-on experimentalist, rigorous documentation and reporting
- Understand problems and best-practice solutions in detecting, counting, and sizing particles
- Working knowledge of measuring surface chemistry, particle structure, morphology, and other physical properties of particles
- Understand the applications for these methods and devices.
- Help define product requirements for instruments
- Working knowledge of generating and interpreting intellectual property
- History of high-quality publications
