The Department of Psychiatry is seeking a Social Work Specialist II to provide very specialized psychotherapy services as a member of the Eating Disorder Program at UIHC and/or Off-site clinic (in Iowa City). This position may provide services in a variety of outpatient, inpatient, and partial hospitalization programming servicing children, adolescents, and or adults. The Social Work Specialist II will provide specialized practice skills in psychiatry assessment, individual psychotherapy, group psychotherapy, consultation, program development, supervision, teaching and training, and public education.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
• Provides planned and emergent mental health assessments of child/adolescent and/or adult patients presenting with a range of eating disorder symptoms and other mental health concerns in an outpatient clinic.
• May receive clinical supervision specialized to the treatment of eating disorders and as skills develop, will be able to formulate diagnostic opinions and treatment plans utilizing the criteria of the DSM 5 on an independent basis.
• Provides suicide risk assessment.
• Differentially provides a wide range of therapeutic interventions including behavior modification, dialectical behavior therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and interpersonal modalities of treatment.
• May provide group and individual psychotherapy in child/adolescent and adult inpatient settings.
• Collaborates with members of the multi-disciplinary clinic, partial hospitalization, and inpatient treatment teams to implement patient care recommendations.
• Assists in the creation of training materials and conducting training as appropriate. May include follow-up with care providers following discharge from unit.
• Assists in writing reports, including treatment recommendations.
• To comply with standards regarding attendance, documentation, continuous quality improvement, data collection, clinic policies and the Code of Ethics.
• Maintains effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and the public.
• Demonstrates respect for all members of the University community in the course of performing one's duties and in response to administrators, supervisors, coworkers, and customers; constructively brings forward workplace concerns to coworkers and/or supervisor.

Supervision
Supervision is received from received from the Clinical Therapy Director and supervision may be exercised over trainees (practicum students, interns, and graduate assistants) as appropriate.

Education and Licensure
A Master's degree in social work is required.

Must be Iowa licensed as an Independent Social Worker (LISW) by time of hire.

Required Qualifications
• Minimum 5-7 years Social Work experience which includes experience in child/adolescent and/or adult inpatient and/or outpatient behavioral health care setting and providing individual or group psychotherapy services to patients and families on assigned clinical areas.
• Demonstrated experience with evidence-based practices including but not limited to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Interpersonal Psychotherapy.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
• Demonstrated experience collaborating as part of multi-disciplinary care teams, including ability to effect change and resolve recalcitrant problems.

Desirable Qualifications
• Experience providing planned and emergent assessments of patients presenting with a wide range of behavioral health complaints and concerns in adult inpatient and outpatient clinic settings.
• Any prior experience providing psychotherapy to patients with eating disorders.
• Prior training in Family-Based Treatment (FBT).
• Training and supervision experience.
• Certification by the Academy of Certified Social Workers is desirable.
