Manage the shift operations of the anesthesia technology department, working under the direction of the Department Manager and the anesthesia care providers. Ensure efficient and cost-effective performance in accordance with department operating budgets, goals, and objectives. Participate in staff recruitment and retention of personnel. Maintain and organize the anesthesia environment, equipment, supplies and personnel to facilitate department functions, demonstrating operational familiarity in relation to critical and non-critical equipment. Perform quality controls with various anesthesia machines to include reactions to device alarms, troubleshooting, testing, and diagnosis. Maintain effective communication with members of the UHealth medical staff, medical directors, administrative team, and surgical and perioperative services leaders. Establish and continuously assess the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with university policies and procedures. Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on university policy and procedures.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High School Graduate/GED
Associate degree in relevant field
Certification and Licensing:
Certification in relevant specialty or field.
Experience:
Minimum 3 years preferred

DEPARTMENT ADDENDUMDepartment Specific FunctionsResponsible for the shift staff coverage - operational schedules to provide optimal coverage for the department. Consults the Operating Room schedules to determine supply needs for procedures. Coordinates anesthetizing locations for indicated procedure to include set ups and calibrating monitoring devices, troubleshooting anesthesia equipment malfunctions, routing non-functional equipment to the proper department for repair. Oversee the orientation and on-boarding of new hires, support continuing education, and the validation of their unit specific competencies (probation and annual). Provides input or capital budget. Functions as a resource person regarding anesthesia equipment and supplies. Adjusts par levels as needed in conjunction with the Department Manager and Materials Management Director. Continually monitors staff productivity, through careful consideration of staff daily tasks, staffing priorities and reducing non-essential interruptions for the staff to complete their job during the allocated time. Follows up on repair of equipment to be done on a timely manner.
Department Specific Qualifications Education:Anesthesia Tech school graduate preferred
Certification and Licensing:American Heart Association BLS Certified
Certification America Society of Anesthesia Technologist preferred
Experience:Minimum three (3) years of experience as a supervisor in a health-related field
